Located in the charming municipality of Marin, in the province of Pontevedra, this beach is much more than just a stretch of sand. From the moment we set foot on Playa de Mogor, we perceive that atmosphere of serenity and well-being. Its fine golden sand, crystal-clear waters, and the gentle Atlantic breeze envelop us, promising an unforgettable day. But what really distinguishes Mogor is its prehistoric legacy. Just a few meters from the sand, you'll find the famous Petroglifos de Mogor, a set of rock carvings dating back to the Bronze Age. These concentric circles and labyrinths transport us to a distant past, inviting us to reflect on the history of those who inhabited these lands long before us. How to get to Playa de Mogor

Getting to Playa de Mogor is relatively easy, as it has good connections from the main urban centers of the province of Pontevedra. We usually recommend the car as the most comfortable and flexible option, especially if we plan to explore the surroundings. From the city of Pontevedra, the journey is short, just 15-20 minutes, following the PO-11 road towards Marin and then taking the signposted turn-offs to the beach.

By car

• From Pontevedra: Take the PO-11 towards Marin. Once in Marin, follow the signs for the beach. The route is well signposted.
• From Vigo: The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. We can take the AP-9 towards Pontevedra and then turn off towards Marin on the PO-11, or opt for the coastal road PO-551, which offers panoramic views, although the route is a bit slower.
• Parking: Playa de Mogor has parking areas, some free and others paid, especially during the high season. It's advisable to arrive early during the summer months to secure a good spot, as it's a very popular beach due to its quality and services.

By public transport

It's also possible to get there by public transport. There are bus lines connecting Pontevedra with Marin. Once in Marin, we can take a local bus or even walk, if we are near the center, although the beach is not in the urban heart. The taxi or VTC option from Marin is another comfortable alternative if we don't have our own vehicle.

The sand and the water

Playa de Mogor is a true delight for the senses, and much of its charm lies in the characteristics of its sand and waters. We always highlight the quality of its sandy area, which stretches for about 350 meters, offering enough space for all bathers, even on the busiest days.

Fine golden sand

The sand of Mogor is, without a doubt, one of its greatest virtues. It's fine-grained and has a golden tone that shines under the Galician sun. Walking barefoot on it is a true wonder, a soft and pleasant sensation that invites us to relax and forget about stress. It's perfect for building sandcastles with the little ones or simply for lying down and enjoying the warmth under our feet.

Calm and crystal-clear waters

The waters of Playa de Mogor are another of its strong points. They are usually calm, with moderate or almost no waves, thanks to the protection provided by the geographical elements of the Ria de Pontevedra. This calm makes Mogor an ideal place for swimming, especially for families with children and the elderly. The transparency of its waters, often crystal-clear, allows us to see the sandy bottom, which adds a feeling of safety and cleanliness. Although we are on the Atlantic, the water temperature in summer is refreshing and very pleasant, perfect for beating the heat and taking a revitalizing dip.

• Lifeguard service: During the bathing season, the beach has a service of qualified lifeguards, ensuring the safety of bathers. This gives us great peace of mind, especially if we go with children.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: Essential after a day at the beach. The showers allow us to wash off the salt and sand before heading home, and the public toilets are clean and well-maintained.
• Full Accessibility: Playa de Mogor is an inclusive beach. It has wooden walkways that facilitate access to the sand, as well as ramps and adapted toilets for people with reduced mobility. Sometimes, amphibious chairs for assisted bathing are also offered, a great plus.
• Chiringuitos: For those moments when you fancy a refreshment, an ice cream, or even a light meal without moving away from the sand, the beach's chiringuitos are a blessing. They offer a varied selection for all tastes.
• Parking: As mentioned earlier, the beach has parking areas, which greatly facilitates arrival by car.
