Introduction
Welcome to a corner of the Costa Blanca that has stolen our hearts: Playa de Mil Palmeras. Strategically located between the municipalities of Orihuela Costa and Pilar de la Horadada, in the sunny province of Alicante, this beach is much more than just a stretch of coastline. It is a destination that embodies the essence of the Mediterranean, offering us a perfect combination of natural beauty, first-class services, and an atmosphere that invites disconnection and full enjoyment. From the moment we set foot on its fine sand, we feel the pace of life slow down, and a sense of peace envelops us.
The Playa de Mil Palmeras stretches out like a golden carpet, bathed by calm, crystal-clear waters that invite you to dive in and forget the world. Its name, which evokes images of palm trees swaying in the sea breeze, is no coincidence; although the palm tree landscape is not as dense as in an oasis, it does suggest that exotic and relaxed atmosphere we seek on vacation. It is a place where families find a safe refuge, where sun lovers enjoy endless days of sunbathing, and where those seeking a respite find the calm they long for. We, as beach experts and lovers of the Spanish coast, can assure you that Mil Palmeras is a gem that deserves to be discovered and experienced intensely.
How to Get to Playa de Mil Palmeras
Getting to Playa de Mil Palmeras is relatively easy, given its excellent location and the area's good connections. For those traveling by car, the beach is conveniently located next to the N-332, the road that runs along much of the Spanish Mediterranean coast. From the city of Alicante, the journey takes approximately one hour, taking the AP-7 heading south and then turning off onto the N-332. If we are coming from Murcia, the trip is even shorter, about 40 minutes, also via the AP-7 or A-7, with a subsequent turn-off.
Access and Parking
Once in the Mil Palmeras area, the beach is easily accessible via various streets that descend towards the coast. Regarding parking, the beach has parking areas nearby, both free on the surrounding streets and, at times, small paid parking lots or blue zones during the high season. Our recommendation is to arrive early, especially in July and August, to secure a good spot. The infrastructure of the Mil Palmeras urbanization facilitates pedestrian access from many of the nearby accommodations, which is a great advantage if we are staying a short distance away.
Public Transport
Although the car is the most comfortable and flexible option for exploring the area, there are also public transport options. Several bus lines connect Mil Palmeras with nearby towns such as Pilar de la Horadada, Orihuela Costa, Torrevieja, or even Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC). However, frequency may be lower outside the high season, so we always advise checking schedules in advance. For those flying, Alicante Airport is the closest and best connected, with options for car rental or private transfers to Mil Palmeras.
The Sand and Water
One of the main attractions of Playa de Mil Palmeras is, without a doubt, the quality of its sand and the purity of its waters. We are always impressed by the softness of its golden mantle, which stretches for its approximately 500 meters in length. The sand is fine, of a light toasted color that contrasts wonderfully with the turquoise blue of the Mediterranean. It is perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply lying down and feeling its warmth under the sun.
The Waters of Mil Palmeras
The waters of Mil Palmeras are a true delight. They are characterized by being very calm, with practically imperceptible waves most of the time, making them an ideal place for bathing for all ages. Their transparency is remarkable, allowing us to see the seabed clearly and enjoy a feeling of cleanliness. The shallow depth at the shore makes it especially safe for children, who can play and splash without worry. This calm is partly due to its orientation and the natural protection offered by the coast in this area.
The water temperature is another plus. During the summer months, from June to September, the Mediterranean gifts us with warm and pleasant waters that invite you to spend hours inside. Even in spring and early autumn, the temperature is mild enough to enjoy a good dip. Water quality is constantly monitored, which has earned Playa de Mil Palmeras the Blue Flag distinction on multiple occasions, a recognition of its environmental excellence and the quality of its services.
Services and Facilities
Playa de Mil Palmeras shines not only for its natural beauty but also for the comprehensive range of services and facilities it makes available to us, designed to ensure a comfortable and worry-free day at the beach. We greatly appreciate that an urban beach offers so many amenities, making it a functional as well as an aesthetic destination.

Among the essential services, we find showers and foot-washing stations distributed along the promenade, perfect for removing sand before returning home.
