Located in the municipality of Telde, this beach is a true treasure that offers an unbeatable vacation experience for all types of travelers, although especially for those seeking tranquility, quality services, and a family atmosphere. How to Get to Playa de Melenara

Getting to Playa de Melenara is quite straightforward, which makes it even more attractive. If we come from Gran Canaria Airport (Gando), the journey is very short, just about ten minutes by car, following the signs to Telde and then to the coast. From Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the capital, the trip takes approximately twenty to twenty-five minutes, depending on traffic, taking the GC-1 heading south. Accessibility is one of its great strengths.

For those who prefer public transport, there are intercity bus lines (Global) connecting Telde with Las Palmas and other towns, and within Telde, one can take a local bus that will drop us off very close to the beach. However, we always recommend renting a car on the island, as it gives us incomparable freedom to explore not only Playa de Melenara but also the wonderful corners of Gran Canaria. Once in Melenara, we will find free parking areas, although in high season or on weekends it might be a bit more difficult to find a spot right next to the sand, so we might have to walk a few minutes.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that catches our attention when stepping onto Playa de Melenara is its sand. It's a soft golden color, incredibly fine and pleasant to the touch, perfect for walking barefoot or for the little ones to play building sandcastles. The cleanliness of the sand is constant, a reflection of the good maintenance the beach receives. It's a delight to lie on it and feel the warmth of the Canary sun.

The waters of Melenara are, without exaggeration, one of its greatest virtues. They are exceptionally calm and crystal clear, thanks to the protection of a natural breakwater that shields them from stronger waves. This creates a kind of natural swimming pool, ideal for safe bathing for the whole family, even for the youngest children or for those who don't feel comfortable with big waves. The water temperature is mild all year round, inviting a refreshing dip in any season. Furthermore, the transparency of the water allows you to see the sandy bottom, which adds an extra layer of safety and enjoyment for bathing.

Best Time to Visit

Thanks to the privileged climate of Gran Canaria, Playa de Melenara is a destination we can enjoy practically all year round. The island enjoys what is known as 'eternal spring', with mild temperatures that rarely drop below 18°C in winter or exceed 30°C in summer. However, there are times that, from our perspective, are ideal for visiting.
