How to Get to Playa de Lone Bay

Getting to Playa de Lone Bay is part of the experience, especially if we are staying in Rovinj. The beach is located south of Rovinj's historic center, making it easily accessible. We recommend several options, each with its own charm:

From Rovinj on Foot or by Bicycle

If we are in Rovinj, the most picturesque way to get there is on foot or by bicycle. A pleasant 15-20 minute walk from Rovinj's center takes us directly to the bay, crossing the beautiful Golden Cape Forest Park (Zlatni rt). The trails are well-marked and mostly flat, making it ideal for a morning or evening stroll. Renting a bicycle makes the adventure even more fun, allowing us to explore not only Lone Bay but also other nearby coves and the park's trails.

By Car

If we prefer the comfort of a car, there are parking areas available near the bay, although they can fill up quickly during high season. It is important to note that direct car access to the beach is restricted to preserve the natural environment, so we will have to walk a short distance from the nearest parking lot. The signage is clear and will guide us without any problems.

Public Transport or Taxi

Although Rovinj does not have an extensive urban bus network that goes directly to the beach, we can always opt for a taxi from the city center. It is a quick and comfortable option, especially if we are traveling with young children or a lot of luggage. However, we believe that the walk or bicycle ride is much more rewarding and allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Croatian landscape.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Lone Bay is distinguished by its particular type of 'sand': in reality, they are small, polished pebbles. We found these pebbles to be incredibly comfortable underfoot, and their smoothness is a delight compared to the sharp rocks we sometimes find on other beaches. The color of the pebbles, ranging from white to light gray, contrasts wonderfully with the deep blue of the Adriatic Sea, creating a color palette that is a visual feast.

But if there is something that truly took our breath away at Playa de Lone Bay, it was the quality of the water. It is, without exaggeration, crystal clear. The transparency is such that we can see the seabed with astonishing clarity, even at several meters depth. This purity is largely due to the absence of fine sand that could cloud the water and the region's commitment to environmental conservation, evident in its Blue Flag award. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, inviting us to a refreshing and prolonged swim. Furthermore, the waters are usually calm, protected in the bay, making them ideal for swimming with complete safety, even for the less experienced.

One of the reasons why Playa de Lone Bay is so popular among visitors is its excellent range of services and facilities. We greatly appreciate the comfort these elements add to the beach experience, allowing us to relax without worries:

• Showers and Toilets/WC: After a refreshing dip in the Adriatic, it's always nice to be able to rinse off the salt. The showers are conveniently located and well-maintained. The public toilets are also clean and accessible, an important point for any quality beach.
• Parking: As mentioned before, there are nearby parking zones, which facilitates access if we arrive by car. Although it's not directly on the sand, the short walk is a small price to pay for the tranquility of the surroundings.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: Along the bay we will find several chiringuitos and small cafes offering cold drinks, ice cream, and snacks. For a more substantial meal, there are restaurants with sea views where we can sample the delicious local cuisine. We enjoyed a latte while contemplating the horizon, a simple but memorable experience.
• Lifeguards: Safety is a priority at Playa de Lone Bay. During the high season, the beach has lifeguards monitoring swimmers, which gives us additional peace of mind, especially if traveling with children.
