How to Get to Playa de Lindos

Getting to Playa de Lindos is part of the adventure and, fortunately, there are several options to suit our preferences and budget. If we fly to Rhodes, Rhodes International Airport 'Diagoras' (RHO) will be our main point of entry. From there, Lindos is located about 50 kilometers to the southeast, a journey that offers us spectacular views of the coast and the island's interior.

By Rental Car

For those of us who value flexibility and the freedom to explore at our own pace, renting a car is undoubtedly the best option. The road connecting Rhodes town with Lindos is well-signposted and in good condition, making the approximately one-hour journey very pleasant. Upon arriving in Lindos, we'll find several paid parking lots on the outskirts of the village, as the center is pedestrian-only. From these parking lots, a short walk or a ride on the famous 'donkey-taxis' (a very traditional experience, although we always recommend considering animal welfare) will take us directly to the beach or the heart of the village.

By Bus

Public transport in Rhodes is efficient and economical. There are regular buses connecting Rhodes town and other important locations with Lindos. The main bus station in Rhodes town offers frequent services, especially during the high season. The bus journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and drops us off at the main bus stop in Lindos, from where the beach and village are a short walk away. It's an excellent option if we prefer not to drive and want to enjoy the scenery without worries.

By Taxi or Private Transfer

If we're looking for comfort and speed, a taxi or a private transfer from the airport or from Rhodes town is a viable option. Although more expensive, it will take us directly to our destination without waiting. We can book these services in advance or find them available at the airport and main tourist spots. It's ideal if we're traveling with a lot of luggage or in a group.

Boat Tours

During the high season, several companies offer boat tours from Rhodes town or nearby ports that include a stop in Lindos. Arriving at Playa de Lindos by sea is an unforgettable experience, offering us a unique perspective of the coast and the Acropolis. These tours usually include free time for swimming and exploring the village, making them a fantastic option for a day trip.

The Sand and Water

When stepping onto Playa de Lindos, the first thing that captivates us is the quality of its sand and the clarity of its waters. Here, the sand is a golden and fine hue, soft to the touch, making it perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles, or simply lying back and sunbathing. It's sand that doesn't stick excessively to the skin, which is always a plus at the end of a beach day.

The waters, on the other hand, are a true marvel. Of an emerald turquoise color that intensifies as we go further in, they are exceptionally crystal clear and calm. The bay is protected from the winds, which ensures minimal waves, making it an ideal place for swimming and relaxing without worries. The depth increases gradually, making it a very safe beach suitable for all ages, including the youngest in the family. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, inviting us to spend hours immersed in its refreshing embrace.

The water's clarity allows us to easily observe the seabed, making it an excellent place for snorkeling. Although there are no large coral reefs, the marine life is enough to entertain us, with small fish swimming among the few rocks that dot the bottom. The combination of fine sand and serene waters is what, to a large extent, has earned Playa de Lindos its reputation as a coastal paradise in Rhodes and throughout Greece.
