How to Get to Playa de Lefkandi

Getting to Playa de Lefkandi is relatively straightforward, especially if we are already on the island of Euboea or in the Attica region. We always recommend planning transportation to ensure a comfortable and hassle-free arrival, allowing us to enjoy it to the fullest from the very first moment. The strategic location of Lefkandi, near Chalkida, the capital of Euboea, facilitates access from different points.

From Athens

If our starting point is Athens, the capital of Greece, we have several options. The most comfortable and flexible way is to rent a car. The drive from Athens to Lefkandi takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic. We must take the E75 highway north, towards Lamia, and then follow the signs to Chalkida. Once in Chalkida, the road to Lefkandi is well signposted and is a short journey along the coastal road. This option gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings and other Euboea beaches at our own pace.

Another alternative from Athens is public transport. We can take a bus (KTEL Evias) from the Liosion bus station in Athens to Chalkida. Buses are frequent and the journey takes about an hour. Once in Chalkida, we can take a taxi or a local bus that goes directly to Lefkandi. While this option is more economical, it may be less convenient if we have a lot of luggage or are traveling with young children, as it involves transfers.

From Chalkida

For those already in Chalkida, the capital of Euboea, Playa de Lefkandi is just a stone's throw away. It is located about 15-20 kilometers south of Chalkida. The easiest way to get there is by car, following the coastal road that passes through small villages and offers nice sea views. The journey takes approximately 20-30 minutes. We can also opt for a taxi, which will take us directly to the beach, or for the local bus service, although the frequency of the latter may be more limited, especially outside the high season.
