How to Get to Playa de la Ventilla

Getting to Playa de la Ventilla is relatively straightforward, given its location in a well-connected urban center. If we come by car, the A-7 highway will connect us with the A-391 or the N-340a, which will take us directly to Roquetas de Mar. Once in the municipality, signage will guide us towards the port and lighthouse area, very close to where our beach is located.

By Car

• From Almeria city: We will take the A-7 towards Malaga and then the A-391 towards Roquetas de Mar. The journey takes approximately 25-30 minutes.
• Parking: In the vicinity of the beach and the marina, we will find parking areas, some of them free, although they can be busier during the high season. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot.

Public Transport

• Bus: There are intercity bus lines connecting Almeria city with Roquetas de Mar. Once in Roquetas, the urban lines will take us close to the beach area, the port, or the Castillo de Santa Ana, from where Playa de la Ventilla is accessible on foot with a short walk.
• Taxi/Ride-hailing: This is also a comfortable option if we prefer not to worry about parking or if we are coming from Almeria Airport (ALC).

The Sand and Water

Playa de la Ventilla welcomes us with mixed sand, combining fine grains with small pebbles. This characteristic gives it a particular texture and a darker tone than other beaches on the Andalusian coast, which we think adds a rustic and authentic charm. Walking barefoot on it is a pleasant experience, and children enjoy searching for small shells and stones polished by the sea.

The waters of La Ventilla are, in general, calm and clear, especially on windless days. Their blue-green hue invites swimming and relaxation. Being a semi-urban beach, it is usually well-maintained and its quality is excellent, as often demonstrated by the presence of the Blue Flag. The entry into the sea is gentle and gradual, making it very safe for young children and for those who are not immediately comfortable in deep water. The water temperature in the summer months is very pleasant, allowing us to enjoy long, refreshing swims.

• Summer (June to September): This is the peak season par excellence. The weather is warm and sunny, ideal for fully enjoying the sea and all water activities. Services are in full operation. However, this is also when visitor numbers are highest, so if we are looking for more tranquility, we might want to choose other months.
• Spring (April and May): For us, spring is one of the best times. Temperatures are mild and pleasant, perfect for walking along the shore, sunbathing, and enjoying the beach without the summer crowds. The water is already starting to warm up, and it's possible to take the first swims of the year.
