How to Get to Playa de la Marquesa

Accessing Playa de la Marquesa is relatively straightforward, although its location in the heart of the Ebro Delta gives it the charm of a 'hidden' spot. We always recommend the car as the best option to get there, as it gives us the freedom to explore the surroundings and bring everything needed for a day at the beach.

By Car

From Deltebre, the road to Playa de la Marquesa is well signposted. We'll drive through the picturesque rice fields, an experience in itself, until we reach the parking area. It's important to remember that we're in a natural park, so we must respect the signs and not stray from the designated paths.

The parking is usually spacious, especially outside the high season. In the summer months, there may be a small fee for parking, but it's worth it for the convenience and proximity to the beach. From the parking lot, it's just a short walk through the dunes until our feet touch the soft sand of Playa de la Marquesa.

Public Transport

Public transport options are more limited. Although Deltebre has bus connections with other towns in the province of Tarragona, getting directly to the beach by public transport can be tricky. The most advisable would be to get to Deltebre and, from there, take a taxi or consider renting bicycles, a very popular and eco-friendly option for getting around the Delta.

The Sand

We're faced with a beach of fine sand with a golden hue that, under the Mediterranean sun, takes on a special shine. The feeling of walking barefoot is incredibly pleasant, a caress for the feet. This fineness of the sand is ideal for building sandcastles, for children to play without worries, and for simply relaxing while lying down. Furthermore, the beach is very extensive, which means we'll always find enough space for our personal spot, even on the busiest days.

The Water

The waters of Playa de la Marquesa are one of its most precious treasures. The entry into the sea is very gentle and gradual, which provides great safety. The water temperature is usually very pleasant during the summer months, inviting long dips and leisurely enjoyment. The calmness of its waters also makes it an excellent place for gentle water sports, like paddle surfing or kayaking, exploring the coast at our own pace.

• Chiringuitos: We find one or two chiringuitos, depending on the season, where we can enjoy a refreshing drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal with sea views. They're perfect for taking a break and sheltering from the sun.
• Parking: As already mentioned, it has a large parking area near the beach, which greatly facilitates access.
• Showers and Toilets/WC: For our comfort, the beach has showers to wash off the sand and salt after swimming, as well as public toilets, essential for a full day at the beach.
• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has a lifeguard service, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we're with children. Their presence is a key factor in the safety of this Deltebre beach.
