How to Get to Playa de la Higuerica

Getting to Playa de la Higuerica is relatively easy, making it a very accessible option for any type of visitor. If we're coming from the center of Águilas, the beach is located a few kilometers to the south, following the coastal road towards Calabardina or San Juan de los Terreros. We always recommend using a GPS navigator, as it will guide us without problems to the exact destination.

Access and Parking

Access to the beach is via well-signposted paths from the main road. One of the great advantages of Playa de la Higuerica is that it usually has parking nearby, often in designated areas or on the roadside, which greatly facilitates arrival, especially during the high season months. However, as with all popular beaches, in the middle of August it may be advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot. Once parked, a short walk separates us from the shore, already allowing us to feel the sea breeze and the scent of salt.

The Sand and the Water

This is where Playa de la Higuerica truly shines. Its main characteristic is, without a doubt, its fine golden sand, which gently extends to the sea. It's sand that invites walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply lying down and feeling the warmth of the sun. Unlike other beaches in the area that may have more gravel or pebbles, La Higuerica offers a comfortable and pleasant surface for everyone.

The Transparency of the Mediterranean

The waters of Playa de la Higuerica are another of its great attractions. We are always impressed by their crystalline transparency and their turquoise blue hue, reminding us of the most paradisiacal coves. Thanks to its protected location, the waves are usually very gentle, almost non-existent, making it an ideal place for a calm and safe swim. The underwater visibility is excellent, perfect for those who enjoy snorkeling and want to observe marine life without going far from the shore. The water temperature, especially in summer, is warm and very pleasant, inviting long dips.

• Lifeguard Service: During the bathing season, the beach has a lifeguard service, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we're with children. Their presence guarantees greater safety for all swimmers.
• Sunbed and Umbrella Rental: For those who prefer to travel light or simply enjoy maximum comfort, it's possible to rent umbrellas and sunbeds, ensuring a shady and relaxing spot.
• Parking: As already mentioned, the availability of parking is an important plus.

Best Time to Visit

The truth is that the Region of Murcia enjoys exceptional weather for much of the year, allowing us to enjoy its beaches in many seasons. However, for Playa de la Higuerica, there are times that we consider ideal.

High and Low Season

• Summer (June-September): Undoubtedly, the busiest time. The sun is radiant, temperatures are perfect for swimming, and all services are in full operation. It's ideal for those seeking a holiday atmosphere, but it's also when the beach is most crowded. If we're looking for a bit more space, we recommend going early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
• Spring (April-May): For us, one of the best times. Temperatures are mild and very pleasant, the water is starting to warm up, and the beach is much quieter. It's perfect for long walks, sunbathing
