How to Get to Playa de la Herradura

Getting to Playa de la Herradura is quite simple, given its semi-urban location in Águilas. If we come by car, the town of Águilas is well connected by road. From the city of Murcia, we can take the A-7 towards Almería and then turn off towards Águilas via the RM-11. Once in Águilas, the beach is located in the eastern area of the municipality, near the N-332, which facilitates access. There is signage that will guide us without problems.

Parking

Regarding parking, as it is a beach with some influx, especially in high season, it is advisable to arrive early. In the surroundings of the beach and adjacent streets, we will find parking areas. Some of them may be paid (blue zone) during the summer months, so it's important to pay attention to the signs. However, with a little patience, we always find a spot to leave our vehicle and enjoy the beach day. It's a surface parking lot, without large underground complexes, but functional and comfortable due to its proximity to the sand.

Public Transport

If we prefer public transport, Águilas has a commuter train station that connects it with Lorca and Murcia. Once at Águilas station, we can opt for a taxi or, if the distance allows and we feel like a walk, walk to the beach. There are also some urban bus lines that run through the municipality and could have stops near Playa de la Herradura, although it is always advisable to check updated schedules and routes before planning the trip.

The Sand and Water

One of the most distinctive characteristics of Playa de la Herradura is its particular composition. Here we won't find the fine, golden sand of other coasts, but an interesting mix that gives it its own character. The type of sand is 'mixed', with coarse sand and small pebbles or stones predominating. This, far from being a drawback, can be an advantage for many.
