How to Get to Playa de la Concha (El Cotillo)

Getting to Playa de la Concha (El Cotillo) is a relatively straightforward experience, and the transport options cater to each traveler's preferences. Located on the west coast of Fuerteventura, in the picturesque village of El Cotillo, access is comfortable and well-signposted.

By Car

For us, the most comfortable and flexible option for exploring Fuerteventura is undoubtedly a rental car. From Fuerteventura Airport (FUE), the journey to El Cotillo takes approximately 45-50 minutes, following the FV-2 and then the FV-1 and FV-10. If we're coming from Corralejo in the north, the trip is about 20-25 minutes via the FV-10. From Puerto del Rosario, the capital, we should allow about 40 minutes. Once in El Cotillo, the beach is well signposted and has free parking nearby, which is a great advantage, especially in high season. Access to the parking area is usually via a dirt road, but it's in good condition.

By Bus (Guagua)

If we prefer not to drive, we can opt for public transport, known in the Canary Islands as 'guaguas'. Line 8 connects Corralejo with El Cotillo, with several frequencies per day. From Puerto del Rosario, we would need to make a transfer, usually in La Oliva. Once in El Cotillo, the beach is within walking distance from the main village bus stop, although we recommend checking the schedules to plan our visit well, as they can vary depending on the time of year.

Other Means

We can also consider taxis, which offer a direct and comfortable service from any point on the island. For the more adventurous or those staying nearby, cycling is another option, although distances and the wind, which can be a significant factor in Fuerteventura, should be considered.

The Sand and Water
