How to Get to Playa de la Cala de Mijas

Getting to Playa de la Cala de Mijas is relatively easy, given its excellent connection with the main communication routes of the Costa del Sol. We always recommend planning the journey a little, especially in high season, to avoid setbacks.

By Car

The most comfortable way for many is, without a doubt, by car. The beach is located very close to the A-7 motorway (Autopista del Mediterráneo), which runs along the entire coast. Taking the exit for 'La Cala de Mijas' or 'Mijas Costa', we will quickly find ourselves in the heart of the town. Once there, finding parking can be a challenge in the summer months. There are public parking areas, both free and paid (blue zone), distributed throughout the town. There are also some underground car parks that, although paid, offer the convenience of leaving the car safely and just a few meters from the sand. Our advice is to arrive early if you visit in July or August to secure a good spot.

By Bus

For those who prefer public transport, Playa de la Cala de Mijas is well connected by several intercity bus lines. From nearby towns like Fuengirola or Marbella, there are regular routes that stop in La Cala de Mijas. The bus station is located in the town center, a short walk from the beach. It is an ecological and relaxed option that allows us to forget about parking and enjoy the scenery during the journey. Bus lines M-220 (Fuengirola-Marbella) and M-119 (Cala de Mijas-Fuengirola) are the most commonly used.

Other Means

If you are staying in the surrounding area, the Senda Litoral is a fantastic option to get there on foot or by bicycle. This coastal path connects several points along the coast, offering spectacular views. It is a healthy and very pleasant way to access the beach, allowing us to enjoy the fresh air and coastal landscape before taking a dip.

The waters of Playa de la Cala de Mijas are, in general, calm and crystal clear, with a blue-green hue that invites you to swim. Being a beach with shallow water at the shore, it is especially safe for children, who can play and splash without risk. The water temperature is typically Mediterranean: cool in spring, warm in summer, and pleasant well into autumn.
