How to Get to Playa de Koroni

Getting to Playa de Koroni is relatively straightforward, and the journey itself is part of the experience, offering us stunning landscapes of the Peloponnese. For most international visitors, the most common point of arrival is Kalamata International Airport (KLX), which is approximately 50-60 kilometers away. From Kalamata, we have several options to reach our destination.

By Car

Renting a car is, without a doubt, the option we most recommend. It offers us the freedom to explore the region at our own pace and discover hidden coves or charming villages along the way. From Kalamata, the journey to Koroni takes about an hour, following well-signposted roads that pass through olive groves and small coastal villages. The road is scenic and in good condition, although with some curves typical of Greek geography. Once in Koroni, Playa de Koroni (Zaga Beach) is very well signposted and has ample parking areas nearby, which is a great advantage.

By Bus

For those who prefer not to drive, there are regular bus services operated by the KTEL Mesinias company that connect Kalamata with Koroni. Schedules can vary depending on the season, so we always advise checking them in advance. Kalamata's bus station is well connected and the buses are usually comfortable. Once in Koroni, the beach is accessible on foot from the town center, although it can be a 15-20 minute walk, especially if we are loaded with towels and coolers. Let's consider that the frequency of buses is lower than in other more touristy areas, so we should plan our trip well.

Taxi or Private Transfer

Another comfortable, though more expensive, option is to take a taxi or hire a private transfer service from Kalamata airport directly to Playa de Koroni.
