How to get to Playa de Kastani (Mamma Mia Beach)

Getting to Playa de Kastani is part of the adventure and, fortunately, quite straightforward. The island of Skopelos does not have an airport, so the first step is to fly to a nearby airport like Volos or Skiathos, and from there take a ferry or a hydrofoil. Once at the main port of Skopelos Town (Chora), you have several options to get to this iconic beach:

By rental car or motorbike

This is, in our opinion, the most comfortable and flexible way to explore the island and, of course, to get to Kastani. The journey from Skopelos Town takes approximately 25-30 minutes and is well signposted. The road is winding but in good condition, offering spectacular views of the Aegean Sea and the island's green landscapes. There is a large free parking lot right behind the beach, which makes arrival very easy and allows you to bring everything you need for a perfect day under the sun.

By public bus

During the summer months, Skopelos has a regular bus service connecting Skopelos Town with the main beaches on the west coast, including Kastani. It's an economical option and a good way to enjoy the scenery without worrying about driving. The stops are clearly marked and the schedules are usually frequent, although it's always advisable to check the latest timetables at the bus station or at your accommodation.

By taxi

If you prefer total comfort and don't want to rent a vehicle, taxis are available in Skopelos Town. The trip to Kastani will have a fixed or approximate cost, which you can ask about before getting in.
