How to Get to Playa de Kamchia

Getting to Playa de Kamchia is a simple adventure that brings us closer to Bulgarian nature. This coastal jewel is located approximately 25-30 kilometers south of Varna, one of Bulgaria's most important and accessible cities. We always recommend planning the journey to fully enjoy the trip.

By Car

For us, the most comfortable and flexible option is always the car. From Varna, the route is direct and well signposted. We will take the E87 highway south, towards Burgas. We will see clearly marked turnoffs towards the Kamchia resort and the beach. The journey usually takes about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic and the time of year. There are several parking areas available near the beach, some paid and others free in the vicinity, especially if we venture a bit further into the less crowded areas. The freedom of having our own vehicle will also allow us to explore the surroundings and the hidden charms of the Kamchia Natural Reserve with total autonomy.

By Public Transport

If we prefer not to drive, there are public transport options, although they are less direct. From the Varna bus station, we can take a bus to Burgas or nearby villages that stop at the Kamchia turnoff. The frequency can vary significantly between the high season (summer) and the rest of the year, so it is essential to check the schedules in advance. Once at the turnoff, we will likely have to walk a stretch or find a local taxi to get directly to the beach, as the stop does not always leave us right on the sand. We always advise this option for those traveling with little luggage and without rush, willing to immerse themselves in the true local experience.

From the Airport

The nearest airport is Varna Airport (VAR), which receives international and domestic flights. From there, we can rent a car directly, take a taxi or a bus to the central station in Varna, and then follow the public transport directions. For us, arriving at Varna Airport is already the first step towards an unforgettable vacation on the Bulgarian beaches.
