How to get to Playa de Kalamitsi

Getting to Playa de Kalamitsi is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it is quite simple, especially if we come by car. Chalkidiki is a region best explored on wheels, and Kalamitsi is no exception. The most common and comfortable route for most visitors is from Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece, which has an international airport. From there, the journey by car takes approximately two hours, depending on traffic and speed.

Route by Car

If we start from Thessaloniki, we will take the Egnatia Odos (A2) highway heading east and then turn off towards the Chalkidiki peninsula, following the signs to Sithonia. The road that winds through Sithonia is scenic, offering us spectacular views of the sea and lush vegetation. It is a journey worth enjoying calmly, making a stop to admire the landscape or take photographs. The signage to Kalamitsi is well indicated once we enter the southern part of Sithonia, near Sykia.

Public Transport

Although the car is the most recommended option for the flexibility it offers to explore the surroundings, there are some bus connections from Thessaloniki to the main villages of Sithonia, such as Sarti or Sykia. However, from these villages to Playa de Kalamitsi, public transport options are limited, so we might need a taxi or to walk if we are staying nearby. We always advise checking the KTEL bus schedules in advance, as they can vary depending on the season.

Parking

One of the advantages of Playa de Kalamitsi is the availability of parking areas. Being an organized and popular beach, it has designated areas where we can leave our vehicle, often near the chiringuitos and tavernas. During the high season, especially in July and August, these areas can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early to secure a good spot.
