How to Get to Playa de Kaiki

Getting to Playa de Kaiki is part of the adventure and charm of Spetses. First, to reach the island, we usually take a ferry or a 'Flying Dolphin' (hydrofoil) from the port of Piraeus in Athens. The 'Flying Dolphins' are faster, taking about two and a half hours, while traditional ferries offer a more leisurely journey of about four hours, ideal for enjoying the views of the Aegean Sea. Once we disembark at Dapia, the main port of Spetses, we realize the island has a charming particularity: it is free of private cars. This contributes greatly to its relaxed and tranquil atmosphere.

From Dapia, we have several options to get to Playa de Kaiki, which is located at a manageable distance, approximately 1.5-2 kilometers southwest of the port. One of the most picturesque and traditional ways is to take one of Spetses' famous horse-drawn carriages. It is a romantic experience that allows us to enjoy the coastal landscape at a leisurely pace. Another popular option, and the one many of us prefer for its flexibility, is to rent a motorcycle or scooter at the port. The journey is short and pleasant, following the coastal road. We can also opt for the local bus, which stops at the main beaches, or even a water taxi if we are coming from another part of the Spetses coast. For walking enthusiasts, a stroll along the coast on foot is a fantastic way to get there, absorbing the island's natural beauty with every step we take towards this magnificent Spetses beach.

The Sand and Water

When we first set foot on Playa de Kaiki, what immediately catches our attention is its particular type of 'sand': in reality, it is a beach of smooth, rounded pebbles.
