How to Get to Playa de Issos

Getting to the Corfu beach of Issos is relatively straightforward, although we recommend having your own or a rental vehicle for greater comfort and to explore the surroundings. The beach is located about 35 kilometers south of Corfu Town (Kerkyra).

By Car

From Corfu Town, take the main road heading to the south of the island. The journey takes approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on traffic. There is clear signage towards 'Issos Beach' or 'Agios Georgios South', which is the nearest village with services. At the beach, you'll find several parking areas, free or paid, managed by local chiringuitos, which is very convenient.

By Bus

There is a 'Green Bus' service connecting Corfu Town with Agios Georgios South, especially during the high season. From Agios Georgios, Playa de Issos is a short walk or a brief taxi ride away. However, schedules can be limited, so it's always advisable to check them in advance.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that catches our attention when stepping onto Playa de Issos is its type of sand: fine, golden sand that stretches for several kilometers. It's incredibly soft underfoot, making it perfect for walking barefoot or for children to play and build sandcastles. The dunes flanking it are impressive, some covered in vegetation, creating a unique and photogenic landscape.

The water is another major attraction. Its waters are notably shallow and very calm, especially in the central part of the beach. This makes it an ideal place for safe swimming, even for the little ones or those who aren't comfortable in deep water. The water's clarity allows you to see the sandy bottom, inviting you to dive in and enjoy its refreshing temperature. • Equipment Rental: It's possible to rent equipment for water sports, adding an extra element of fun to your visit.

Best Time to Visit

We always recommend visiting Playa de Issos during late spring (late May and June) or early autumn (September and early October). During these months, the weather is warm and pleasant, the waters are perfect for swimming, and there are fewer tourists, allowing you to enjoy the beach with greater tranquility and space.

July and August are the peak season months, with higher temperatures and more visitors. If you don't mind the bustle and are looking for a livelier atmosphere, this time is also fantastic. However, for a more relaxed and authentic experience on this Corfu beach, the intermediate months are ideal.
