How to Get to Playa de Guainos

Getting to Playa de Guainos is relatively straightforward, which adds to its appeal, especially if we are traveling with children or a lot of luggage. The beach is located in the municipality of Adra, in the province of Almería, and is well-connected by road. If we are coming from the east (for example, from the capital of Almería) or from the west (from the province of Granada or Málaga), the main route is the A-7 motorway. We should take the exit towards Adra and, once in the town, follow the signs towards the west coast. The beach is situated a short distance from the urban center, but far enough to offer a more tranquil atmosphere.

Car Access and Parking

For us, the car is the most comfortable option for getting to Playa de Guainos. The advantage is that it has good access and, very importantly, there is parking nearby. We are not talking about an underground car park or a massive paid parking lot, but rather designated areas near the beach where, even in high season, it is usually possible to find a spot without too much trouble. This is a relief, as there is nothing more frustrating than arriving at a beach and spending a good while looking for a place to leave the vehicle. The ease of parking allows us to unload chairs, coolers, and all those beach essentials without stress, a detail we greatly appreciate when traveling in a group or with family.

Public Transport

Although a car is most recommended, it is also possible to reach Adra by bus from other towns in Almería and nearby provinces. Once at the Adra bus station, Playa de Guainos is a distance that can be covered with a short walk if we enjoy walking, or by taking a local taxi. However, for the comfort of coming and going with flexibility, we insist that a private vehicle is the best alternative to fully enjoy the area and its surroundings.

It is true that the coarse sand and gravel can be a little less comfortable for lying directly on than fine sand, but this is easily solved with a good thick towel or, even better, with a mat or a sun lounger. We always recommend bringing something of this sort to maximize comfort. Furthermore, this characteristic is what contributes to the water remaining so pristine, a trade-off that, in our opinion, is worth it. The sensation of walking on the small stones and sand while the water brushes our feet is a very pleasant sensory experience, different from that of other beaches in Almería.
