How to Get to Playa de Gorliz

Getting to Playa de Gorliz is relatively easy, and the transport options are varied, making it accessible to all visitors. We always recommend planning the route in advance, especially during high season, to avoid setbacks.

By Car

If we come by car, the most direct route from Bilbao is to take the BI-631 and then turn off onto the BI-2120 towards Gorliz. The journey takes approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once in Gorliz, we will find various parking areas, both paid and free, although the latter tend to fill up quickly in the summer months. From experience, we usually arrive early to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

For those who prefer public transport, the most comfortable option is the Bilbao metro. We can take Line 1 (red) to Plentzia station, which is the last stop. From Plentzia, there is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk following the estuary to reach Playa de Gorliz. There is also the option of taking a local bus (bizkaibus A3451) that connects Plentzia with Gorliz, making the journey even easier. This alternative is ideal for those who want to forget about the car and enjoy the scenery.

Dreamlike Sand

The sand of Gorliz is a light golden color, very fine and soft to the touch. It's perfect for walking barefoot, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply spreading out our towel and relaxing. Its length, about 850 meters, offers enough space so that no one feels crowded, even on the busiest days. We always enjoy the feeling of its grains under our feet while walking along the shore, letting the sea breeze caress us.

Thanks to the natural protection of the bay, the waves are usually gentle, making them ideal for swimming for children and the elderly. It has wooden walkways that reach the sand, adapted ramps, and, during high season, amphibious chairs and support staff to facilitate bathing for people with reduced mobility. • Parking: As mentioned before, there are parking areas near the beach, some free and others paid, which makes access easier if we come by car.
