How to Get to Playa de Garrucha

Getting to Playa de Garrucha is relatively easy, as the municipality is well-connected and the beach stretches along its urban center. We always recommend planning the journey a little to enjoy it to the fullest from the first moment.

By Car

The most comfortable way for most visitors is, without a doubt, by car. Garrucha is located on the coast of Almería and is accessible via the A-7 motorway. If we are coming from the north or south, we must take the exit towards Vera/Garrucha/Mojácar (exit 520 if coming from the north, or 529 if coming from the south, depending on the exact direction and stretch). Once on the local roads A-1200 or A-352, the signs to Garrucha are clear. The journey from the capital, Almería, usually takes about an hour, while from Murcia it can be an hour and a half. Once in the town, the Garrucha promenade runs parallel to the beach, and we will find several parking areas, both surface and underground, although in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot near the sand. Our advice is to arrive early or look for parking on the streets adjacent to the promenade.

By Public Transport

Although less flexible than a car, public transport is a viable option. Garrucha has bus lines connecting it to nearby towns like Vera, Mojácar, and also to the main bus station in Almería city, from where connections to other Spanish cities can be made. The main bus company operating in the area is ALSA. The bus stops in Garrucha are usually central, allowing us to reach the beach with a short walk. It's a good alternative if we prefer not to worry about parking or if we want to enjoy a car-free day.
