Once at the port of Evdilos, the beach is just a few steps away, making it incredibly accessible.

To explore the rest of the island of Ikaria, and we assure you it's worth it, we highly recommend renting a car or a motorbike. Although there is a public bus service connecting the main villages, the freedom of movement that our own vehicle gives us is unmatched. The roads are winding but well-maintained, and they will allow us to discover hidden coves, mountain villages, and stunning landscapes at our own pace. The nearest airports with flights to Ikaria are Athens International Airport (ATH) and Samos Airport (SMI), from where you can take a ferry.

The Sand and Water

It's not a beach of uninterrupted fine golden sand, but a mix that feels very pleasant to the touch and is often described as 'mixed'. This combination of sand and small stones, or 'pebbles', is quite common on many Greek beaches and adds a particular charm, especially for those who appreciate natural beauty over uniformity.

Parking is not a problem, as there are spaces available near the port and the village. Furthermore, the beach has showers to rinse off the salt after swimming and, during the high season, there are usually lifeguards watching over the safety of swimmers, which adds an extra layer of tranquility to our experience. The proximity to shops and small supermarkets in the village means we'll never be far from what we might need.

Best Time to Visit

The choice of the best time to visit Playa de Evdilos and the island of Ikaria depends a lot on our personal preferences regarding climate and crowds. We always recommend late spring (late May and June) and early autumn (September and early October) as the ideal times.

During these months, the weather is glorious: warm and sunny, but without the intense heat of midsummer. The waters of the Aegean are already warm enough for a delightful swim, and the island is at its peak splendor, with the flora still lush and the landscapes vibrant. Furthermore, the influx of tourists is lower than in July and August, allowing us to enjoy the tranquility of the beach and the village without crowds. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a livelier atmosphere, with all services and events in full swing, then July and August are your months, although you should be prepared for higher temperatures and a greater number of visitors, especially during the island's famous 'panigiria'.
