How to Get to Playa de Essaouira

Getting to Playa de Essaouira is part of the adventure. The city of Essaouira has an international airport (Essaouira-Mogador Airport, code ESU) that receives flights from some European cities, although connections are limited. The most common and picturesque way to get there is by road from the main Moroccan cities.

From Marrakech

From Marrakech, the bus journey is the most popular and economical. Companies like Supratours or CTM offer regular and comfortable services, with a journey lasting approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. It is a pleasant trip that passes through changing landscapes, including argan fields. Shared 'grand taxis' are another option, faster but potentially less comfortable if we prefer to travel with more space.

From Agadir

From Agadir, the journey is a bit longer, around 3 to 4 hours by bus. There are also grand taxi services available. The road runs along the coast in some sections, offering spectacular views of the Atlantic.

Once in Essaouira, the beach is easily accessible. If we stay within the medina, we can reach it on foot in a few minutes, crossing the walls and heading south. For slightly longer distances, 'petit taxis' (small taxis) are cheap and plentiful, taking us to any point in the city or along the beach with ease.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that surprises us when stepping onto Playa de Essaouira is its immensity. It stretches for several kilometers, offering generous space for all visitors. The sand is a soft golden color and fine in texture, ideal for walking barefoot or for children to play building sandcastles. It is a clean and well-maintained beach, which contributes to a pleasant experience.

The Atlantic water here is cool, even in summer, making it very refreshing. It is known for its waves and currents, especially in the more open areas.
