How to Get to Playa de El Playazo

Getting to Playa de El Playazo is relatively straightforward, although its location further from the center of Nerja means that, for many, the car is the most comfortable option. If we are coming from Málaga or any point on the Costa del Sol, the best route is to take the A-7 motorway towards Almería and exit at exit 292 'Nerja / Frigiliana'. Once we take that exit, we follow the signs towards Nerja and, before entering the urban center, we will see the accesses to El Playazo on our right, just before crossing the Chillar river.

For those who prefer public transport, Nerja's bus station is well connected with Málaga city and other points in the province. Once in Nerja, we can take a local bus that brings us closer to the western area of the municipality, although we may have to walk a final stretch. The most pleasant option, if we are staying in central Nerja and feel like a walk, is to go on foot. However, we should be prepared for a walk of about 20-30 minutes, as the beach is quite extensive. It is a pleasant walk that allows us to discover the area.

Regarding parking, Playa de El Playazo offers a significant advantage: it has several areas to park the car, especially along the access road and in designated open areas. Although in the peak season it may be necessary to search a bit, parking availability is considerably better than in the more central beaches of Nerja, where finding a spot is almost an impossible mission. This makes it a very attractive option for those traveling by private vehicle and who do not want to worry about parking.

The Sand and the Water

One of the most distinctive features of Playa de El Playazo is its sand. Do not expect the typical fine golden sand found in other latitudes. It is a pleasure to immerse oneself in these waters and be carried away by the calm of the surroundings.

Although it is not a beach famous for its coral reefs or spectacular marine life, the water quality is excellent. We can often observe small schools of fish near the shore, especially if we venture out with basic snorkeling goggles. The absence of large hotel infrastructures on the beachfront helps maintain this purity, giving us a feeling of being in a place less intervened by human hand. The combination of the dark sand and the intense blue of the sea creates a very attractive visual contrast, especially at sunset, when the colors merge into a spectacle worth admiring.
