How to get to Playa de Divna

Getting to Playa de Divna is part of the adventure and charm of the experience. It is located on the Pelješac peninsula, a region known for its vineyards, rugged landscapes, and rich maritime history. The most comfortable way to access this Dubrovnik-Neretva beach is by car, which allows us to enjoy the picturesque landscapes that unfold along the way.

By car

If we are coming from Dubrovnik, the journey will take approximately an hour and a half to two hours, depending on traffic and the stops we make to admire the views. We must take the E65 highway north, crossing the impressive Pelješac Bridge, which connects the peninsula with the Croatian mainland, thus avoiding passing through Bosnia and Herzegovina. Once on the peninsula, we will follow the signs to Trpanj. Playa de Divna is signposted and is located a few kilometers east of Trpanj. There is a parking area available near the beach, although during the high season it can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early. The road is paved almost to the beach, with a small final stretch of well-maintained dirt road.

Public transport

Public transport to Playa de Divna is limited. Although there are bus lines connecting Dubrovnik with the main towns of Pelješac such as Ston, Orebić or Trpanj, getting directly to the beach by bus is not feasible. Once in Trpanj, we could consider a taxi or even a bike ride if we feel adventurous, but the convenience of a private car is incomparable for exploring this beautiful region of Croatian beaches.

The sand and the water

Playa de Divna captivates us immediately with the purity of its surroundings. It is not a traditional fine sand beach, but a magnificent expanse of smooth white pebbles mixed with some coarser sand, giving it a unique character. This pebble-type ground composition is a distinctive feature of many Dubrovnik-Neretva beaches and the Adriatic in general, offering a different experience under our feet. The pebbles are small and pleasant to the touch, and walking on them is not uncomfortable, although water shoes can be useful for the more sensitive.

But what really takes our breath away is the water. The waters of Playa de Divna are of a transparency and turquoise color that rival the most famous tropical destinations. The clarity is such that we can see the seabed with perfect clarity, even at several meters depth. It is a true paradise for snorkeling lovers, where marine life, although not lush, gives us small spectacles of fish and algae dancing with the current. The water temperature is generally very pleasant during the summer months, inviting us to spend hours immersed in its refreshing embrace.

Chiringuito and Equipment Rental

On the beach itself, we find a charming chiringuito or small beach bar. Here we can enjoy refreshing drinks, ice creams, and some light snacks, ideal for combating the midday heat or for a short break between dips. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is friendly. Furthermore, it is common for this same establishment to offer umbrella and sunbed rental, which is very convenient if we do not want to carry our own beach equipment. This allows us to secure a comfortable spot in the sun or shade, enjoying the day to the fullest.

Showers and Lifeguards

For our comfort, the beach has basic showers where we can rinse off the salt after a swim in the sea. They are a much-appreciated detail, especially if we are going to continue our journey after a day at the beach. During the high season, it is common to find lifeguards watching over the beach, which adds an extra layer of safety, especially for families with children. This allows us to relax knowing that there are attentive eyes in case of any eventuality.

Parking
