How to Get to Playa de Cofete
Getting to Playa de Cofete is, in itself, part of the adventure. There is no direct paved access, which helps preserve its wild character. The most common route starts from Morro Jable, in the south of Fuerteventura. From there, an unpaved dirt road awaits, somewhat rough and with sections in poor condition, winding through the mountains of the Jandía massif. It is a journey that requires patience and caution. We strongly recommend a 4x4 vehicle, although many visitors do it with regular cars, taking extreme precautions. The journey can take between 45 minutes and an hour from Morro Jable.
Transport Options:
- Private or Rental Car: If we choose this option, it is vital to drive slowly and watch out for stones and potholes. Let's make sure our rental insurance covers driving on unpaved roads, as many companies exclude it. At the end of the road, we will find an informal Parking area to leave the car before descending to the beach.

- Showers and Toilets/WC: We will not find any of these facilities. It is essential to be prepared and bring everything we need, as well as take all our trash back with us.
- Beach Bars and Restaurants: There are none directly on the beach. However, in the small hamlet of Cofete, a short distance away, there is a modest and traditional 'chiringuito' or bar-restaurant where we can enjoy a drink or a simple dish, often fresh fish. It is a rustic and authentic experience.
- Lifeguard Service: There is no lifeguard service. This reinforces the need to be extremely cautious with the sea, especially if we are not experienced swimmers.
- Sun Umbrellas and Sun Loungers: Forget about renting equipment. If we wish to protect ourselves from the sun, we will have to bring our own umbrella and towels. The wind can be intense, so a sturdy umbrella is essential.
