We've had the pleasure of exploring this Zadar beach on several occasions and it has always surprised us with its ability to offer something for every type of traveller. From families with young children to couples seeking relaxation or groups of friends looking for adventure, Borik has a spot for everyone. Its waters, of a hypnotic turquoise blue, invite you to swim and have fun, while its modern infrastructure guarantees a comfortable and worry-free stay. It is, without a doubt, a place that stands out on our list of favourites.

How to get to Playa de Borik

Getting to Playa de Borik is surprisingly easy, given its privileged location on the northwest side of the city of Zadar. For those staying in the historic centre, a short trip by car or local bus is all that's needed. We usually opt for the bus, as it's an economical and comfortable way to get around, and the stops are conveniently located near the beach. Several lines connect the old town with the Borik area, and the frequency of buses is quite good, especially during the high season.

If you prefer the freedom of your own vehicle, you'll find ample parking areas in the vicinity of the beach. Some car parks are paid, but the convenience of having your car nearby, especially if you're travelling with a lot of luggage or with children, is well worth it. It's also possible to arrive by bicycle, as Zadar has some cycle routes that will take you directly to the coast. For the more adventurous, a walk from the centre can be an option, although it will take a good while and is better reserved for days that aren't too hot. Accessibility is, without a doubt, one of the strong points of this Playa de Borik.

The sand and the water

When we talk about the surface of Playa de Borik, we must be honest: it's not the typical fine, golden sand beach you might imagine when thinking of the Mediterranean. Here, the ground type is predominantly pebble and gravel. However, don't let that discourage you. We were a bit sceptical at first, but we quickly discovered that these pebbles are smooth and, in fact, quite comfortable to walk on. Furthermore, in some sections of the beach, sand has been added to create more 'traditional' areas, offering a pleasant mix that we would call mixed sand type. This means you can choose your preferred spot, whether on the natural pebbles or on a layer of softer sand.

But what really makes us fall in love with Borik are its waters. They are simply spectacular. The transparency is astonishing; we can see the seabed with crystal clarity, inviting us to dive in and explore. The water temperature is generally very pleasant during the summer months, perfect for cooling off from the Croatian sun. Moreover, access to the sea is gradual in many areas, making it a safe place for the little ones. It's no wonder that Playa de Borik holds the prestigious Blue Flag, a distinction that certifies the high quality of its waters and services. It's a pleasure to swim in such a clean and well-maintained environment.

Playa de Borik is a clear example of how a beach can offer a complete and worry-free experience. We highly value comfort, and Borik does not disappoint in this regard. From the moment we arrive, we find a wide range of services designed to make our stay as pleasant as possible.

First of all, the showers are strategically located, allowing us to rinse off the salt and sand before returning to our accommodation. The toilets/WCs are also clean and easily accessible, a detail we always appreciate, especially when we spend several hours at the beach. For those arriving by car, the parking is spacious and organised, which greatly facilitates logistics.

If you're looking for a place to relax in the sun without worrying about bringing your own equipment, you'll find stands for umbrella and sunbed rental. It's always a pleasure to recline on a comfortable sunbed, read a book and simply enjoy the atmosphere. Furthermore, the presence of lifeguards during the high season gives us extra peace of mind, knowing that there are professionals looking out for our safety and that of our loved ones.

The gastronomic offering is another strong point. Several chiringuitos and restaurants dot the coastline, offering everything from light snacks and refreshments to more elaborate meals with sea views. It's ideal for grabbing a bite between swims or for enjoying a dinner at sunset. And, of course, for the more active, there is a sports area and points for equipment rental to practise water sports. For families, the children's area is a real lifesaver, with games and activities that will keep the kids entertained for hours. Playa de Borik is, in short, a model of a well-equipped beach.
