How to Get to Playa de Atlanterra

Getting to Playa de Atlanterra is relatively straightforward, although it requires a small detour from the busier routes, which contributes to its more exclusive and tranquil atmosphere. We always recommend a car as the most comfortable and practical option for exploring this area of the Cadiz coast. From Tarifa, the journey takes approximately 20-25 minutes heading north, following the N-340 and then turning off towards Zahara de los Atunes and Atlanterra. The road offers spectacular panoramic views of the coastline, which are already part of the adventure.

By Car

If we're coming from Cadiz city, we'll take the A-48 and then the N-340 towards Tarifa. Once past the town of Facinas, we'll look for the turnoff towards Zahara de los Atunes and, shortly after, the signs for Atlanterra. The area has several residential developments and hotels that will guide us. It's important to note that, although there are designated parking areas, especially near the beach bars and main access points, they can fill up during the high season. We always advise arriving early to secure a good spot and enjoy the day from the first hour. The ease of access by car allows us to bring everything we need for a perfect beach day.

By Public Transport

Although less direct, it is possible to reach by public transport. There are regular buses connecting Tarifa with Zahara de los Atunes. Once in Zahara, Playa de Atlanterra is accessible on foot, although it's a considerable walk, or by local taxi. However, for greater freedom of movement and to easily explore the surroundings, a car is undoubtedly the best choice. We always value the flexibility our own vehicle gives us to discover every cove and corner of this wonderful coast.

The Sand and Water

One of the biggest attractions of Playa de Atlanterra is undoubtedly the quality of its sand and the transparency of its waters. The sand is a pale golden color, incredibly fine and soft to the touch, making it a pleasure to walk on barefoot. It's an extensive sandy beach that allows us to find our own space, even on the busiest days, without feeling crowded. This characteristic makes it ideal for long walks along the shore, building sandcastles with the little ones, or simply lying down to enjoy the sun and sea breeze. Although they are Atlantic waters and can be somewhat cooler than Mediterranean ones, especially outside the core summer months, their purity and transparency are unmatched. Although Playa de Atlanterra maintains a natural and less crowded spirit than other urban beaches, it does have a series of services and facilities that make it comfortable and functional for its visitors.
