How to Get to Playa de Armenistis

The island of Ikaria has a national airport (JIK) that receives flights from Athens, making it an accessible destination for international travelers who first arrive in the Greek capital. Once at the airport, the most practical option to get to Armenistis is to rent a car. This gave us the freedom to explore the island at our own pace and get directly to the beach with ease.

If we arrive by plane, the airport is located in the southeast of the island, near Agios Kirykos. From there, the journey to Armenistis, which is on the northwest coast, takes about an hour and a half by car. The roads in Ikaria are winding and offer spectacular scenery, so the journey itself is part of the adventure. We recommend driving carefully and enjoying the panoramic views that open up at every turn. By renting a car, we can not only get to Playa de Armenistis but also discover other wonderful Ikaria beaches and hidden corners.

Public Transport and Other Means

We preferred the flexibility of the car to be able to carry our beach gear and have the freedom to come and go as we pleased, fully enjoying every Ikaria beach we found.
