How to Get to Playa de Antilla

Getting to Playa de Antilla is relatively easy, given its excellent location and the good connections of Orio. We always recommend planning the route a little, especially during high season, to avoid setbacks.

By Car

If we come by car, the A-8 motorway (Bilbao-Irún) is our best ally. We must take exit 11 for Orio. Once in the town, the signs to the beach are clear and will guide us directly to the sand. The advantage of the car is the flexibility it offers us to explore the surroundings. Regarding parking, the beach has several parking areas, some paid, especially in summer. It is advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot, especially on weekends in July and August. There are regulated parking options (OTA) and also a larger parking lot near the marina and sports center, a short walk from the beach.

By Public Transport

Public transport is an excellent alternative, especially if we want to forget about the car and parking. Orio is very well connected:

• Train (Euskotren): The Euskotren line connecting San Sebastián with Bilbao has a stop in Orio. The Orio train station is about a fifteen-minute walk from the beach. It's a pleasant walk that allows us to discover the charm of the town.
• Bus: Several bus lines from the Lurraldebus company connect Orio with San Sebastián, Zarautz, and other nearby municipalities. The bus stops are usually central, making it easy to access the beach after a short walk. It's a comfortable and economical option, ideal for day trips.

On Foot or by Bicycle

For those of us staying in Orio or neighboring municipalities like Zarautz, getting to Playa de Antilla on foot or by bicycle is a delight. There are trails and bidegorris (bike lanes) that allow us to enjoy the coastal landscape while heading to the beach. It's a sustainable and healthy way to approach this magnificent corner of Gipuzkoa.

The water quality is guaranteed by the Blue Flag it receives annually, a distinction that assures us it meets the highest environmental and service standards. What we like most about its waters is their duality: on one hand, they are calm enough near the shore for the safe bathing of the little ones, especially in the area closest to the estuary. Furthermore, a little further out, the waves of the Cantabrian Sea offer fantastic opportunities for water sports, making it a reference point for local surfers.
