Although he ultimately didn't acquire it, the beach had already adopted his name and, with it, a legend that endures.

When we first arrived at this place, the view took our breath away. The waters, of an emerald tone so intense it seems unreal, blend with a seabed dotted with rocks and pebbles, creating an unparalleled visual spectacle. Surrounded by lush vegetation and rocky cliffs, Anthony Quinn Beach offers us a sanctuary of tranquility and natural beauty. It's not a beach of endless sand, but a series of small coves and nooks that invite exploration, snorkeling, and, above all, the enjoyment of nature at its finest.

How to Get to Anthony Quinn Beach

Getting to Anthony Quinn Beach is relatively straightforward, though it requires a bit of planning, especially in high season. It is located on the east coast of the island of Rhodes, about 4 km south of Faliraki and about 15 km south of Rhodes Town.

By Car

For us, renting a car was the most comfortable and flexible option. From Rhodes Town, we took the coastal road heading south towards Faliraki and followed the signs. The journey takes approximately 20-25 minutes. There is a parking lot, often paid in high season, right above the beach, although spaces are limited and fill up quickly. If we don't find a spot there, it's possible to park on the roadside a bit further up and walk a few minutes downhill to the cove. The access road is narrow and winding in the final stretch, so we recommend driving with caution.

By Bus

If we prefer not to drive, public transport is a viable option. From Rhodes Town, we can take a regular bus to Faliraki. Once in Faliraki, we could opt for a taxi for the final leg to the beach, or if we're feeling energetic, walk. However, the walk from the main bus stop in Faliraki to Anthony Quinn Beach can be long and hot, especially in summer, so we recommend a taxi or a rental car.

By Taxi

A taxi from Rhodes Town or Faliraki is a comfortable, though more expensive, alternative. Taxis usually have fixed rates for the most popular tourist destinations. It's a good option if we're traveling in a group and can share the costs.

The Sand and Water

Anthony Quinn Beach is not the typical fine, golden sand beach many expect in the Mediterranean. Its charm lies precisely in its uniqueness. The beach's 'floor' is a mix of small pebbles, stones polished by the sea, and some patches of coarse sand. Don't expect to build sandcastles here; instead, we'll find a more rustic and natural landscape. Therefore, we always advise bringing water shoes or aqua socks, as the stones can be a bit uncomfortable for sensitive feet, especially when entering and exiting the sea.

But if the shore is pebbly, the water is a completely different story. We dive into a sea of astonishing clarity, with hues ranging from intense emerald green in the deeper areas to bright turquoise near the shore. The visibility is exceptional, making this Rhodes beach a paradise for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts. The waters are usually very calm, protected by the rock formations that embrace the cove, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing without worrying about big waves.

The water temperature is generally warm and very pleasant, especially from late spring to early autumn. When we dive in, we discover a vibrant marine ecosystem: small colorful fish, starfish, and underwater rock formations that serve as shelter for various species. It's like swimming in a natural aquarium, an experience that invites us to spend hours exploring its depths, always respecting the marine flora and fauna. Without a doubt, the quality and beauty of its waters are the main attraction of this iconic Anthony Quinn Beach.

Despite its natural and wild appearance in some spots, Anthony Quinn Beach has a range of services that make our visit much more comfortable, especially during the summer months when visitor numbers are higher.

Sunbeds and Umbrellas

As on many Rhodes beaches, here we will find a wide offering of umbrellas and sunbeds available for rent. We always recommend arriving early to secure a good spot, as the beach is very popular and the best places are taken quickly. Enjoying the Greek sun on a comfortable sunbed, with the sea breeze and the sound of the waves, is an essential part of the experience.

Beach Bars (Chiringuitos)

There is a small beach bar or cantina right on the beach that offers cold drinks, ice cream, coffee, and some light snacks. It's perfect for refreshing ourselves or having a bite.
