How to Get to Playa de Amboula

Getting to Playa de Amboula is relatively straightforward, although, as with most less crowded Greece beaches, having your own means of transport will give us greater freedom and flexibility. The beach is located on the east coast of Zante, about 10 kilometers north of the capital, Zante Town, and a short distance from popular tourist destinations like Tsilivi and Planos. This makes it a very accessible option for those staying in these areas.

By Rental Car

For us, the most recommended option for exploring Zante and reaching places like Playa de Amboula is, without a doubt, renting a car. The island has a good road network, and although some can be narrow or winding, the journey to Amboula is quite direct. From Zante Town, we will take the coastal road heading north towards Tsilivi and, following the signs, we will easily find the turn-offs to Amboula. The trip takes approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic. Furthermore, having a car will allow us to discover other hidden coves and the picturesque villages inland, enriching our experience of the Zante beach and its surroundings.

By Public Bus

If we prefer not to drive, public transport is a viable alternative, albeit with less frequency. From the Zante Town bus station (KTEL Zakynthos), there are lines connecting to Tsilivi and other nearby towns. From Tsilivi, Playa de Amboula is at a distance we could cover on foot (about 20-30 minutes) or, if we prefer, take a local taxi for the final stretch. It is important to check the schedules in advance, as they may vary depending on the season.

By Taxi

Another comfortable option, especially if we are traveling in a group, is to take a taxi from our accommodation. Taxis in Zante are relatively affordable, and the trip to Playa de Amboula will be quick and hassle-free. It is a good alternative if we want to avoid the stress of looking for parking, although, in general, in Amboula it is usually not a serious problem.

Parking

One of the advantages of Playa de Amboula is the ease of parking. Generally, there are free or very economical paid parking areas near the tavernas and establishments close to the beach. This allows us to arrive comfortably and have our vehicle at hand for when we decide to explore the surroundings or return to our accommodation. We are happy to know that, unlike other more crowded Greece beaches, we will not waste time looking for a spot here.

The Sand and the Water

When we think of a paradisiacal Zante beach, the image that comes to mind is very similar to what we find at Playa de Amboula: a stretch of soft, golden sand that blends with waters of an unreal turquoise color. The quality of the sand is one of its strong points; it is fine and pleasant to the touch, perfect for laying out our towel and enjoying the sun or for children to build sandcastles without difficulty. There are no annoying rocks on the shore, which facilitates access to the sea and makes walking barefoot a true pleasure.

But if the sand is a delight, the water is simply spectacular. The waters of Playa de Amboula are famous for their incredible transparency and crystal-clear hue. We can see the seabed with total clarity, making it an ideal place for snorkeling, even for beginners. The water temperature, especially during the summer months, is warm and very pleasant, inviting us to spend hours swimming and cooling off. It is one of those Greece beaches where one truly feels in paradise.
