How to Get to Playa de Agios Sostis

Getting to Playa de Agios Sostis is part of the adventure and, fortunately, a fairly simple one. Located on the southeast coast of Tinos, this gem is conveniently close to the capital, Chora (or Tinos Town), making it easily accessible for most visitors. From the port of Chora, the journey is only about 5 to 7 kilometers, which translates to a short 10 to 15-minute drive or scooter ride.

Transportation Options

• Rental Car: This is, in our opinion, the most practical and recommended option for exploring Tinos at our own pace. There are several car rental agencies in Chora, both at the port and in the center. A car gives us the freedom to visit not only Agios Sostis but also the island's picturesque villages and other hidden beaches.
• Scooter or Quad: For adventure lovers and those who prefer a more agile way to get around, renting a scooter or quad is an excellent alternative. The roads on Tinos are generally good, although some can be narrow or have sharp curves, so we recommend caution.
• Taxi: A comfortable option, especially if we are traveling with luggage or in a small group. Taxis are available at the port of Chora. The price will be reasonable given the short distance.
• Local Bus (KTEL): During the summer months, the Tinos bus network is quite efficient and connects Chora with the main beaches and villages. There is likely a bus stop near Agios Sostis, or at least within walking distance. We advise checking the updated schedules at the Chora bus station upon arrival on the island, as they may vary by season.

For us, the quality of the sand is a crucial factor in the beach experience, and Agios Sostis excels in this aspect, offering a comfortable surface both for sunbathing and playing.

But if the sand is a delight, the water is a true wonder. The waters of Agios Sostis are extraordinarily clear and shallow, making it a particular paradise for families with young children. We can wade several meters into the sea and the water will barely reach our waist, allowing the little ones to splash and play in complete safety under our watchful eye. The absence of strong currents or large waves contributes to this feeling of tranquility and safety, making swimming an extremely pleasant experience for everyone.

The color of the water varies from a bright turquoise near the shore to a deeper blue in the distance, reflecting the sunlight in a spectacular way. The underwater visibility is excellent, which, although it is not a renowned diving spot, allows us to observe small fish and local marine life with ease, even with simple snorkeling goggles. It is a pleasure to immerse ourselves in these warm waters, which are rarely cold during the summer months, and feel the stress dissolve with every stroke. The combination of fine sand and calm, transparent waters makes Agios Sostis one of the most attractive beaches in Tinos for those seeking peace and natural beauty.
