By Boat from Vasiliki

The most comfortable and popular option to reach Playa de Agiofili is to take one of the small boats that regularly depart from the port of Vasiliki. During the high season, these 'sea taxis' operate quite frequently, usually every hour or half hour, from morning until afternoon. The journey is relatively short, just about 10-15 minutes, and offers spectacular views of the southern coast of Lefkada. It's a fantastic way to admire the cliffs and lush vegetation from a different perspective, while the sea air caresses your face. The cost is usually very reasonable, making it an attractive alternative for those looking to avoid the hike or traveling with young children. Furthermore, some of these boats also offer combined excursions to other nearby coves or even to the famous beaches of Porto Katsiki or Egremni, although the latter usually require a longer journey and are more prone to cancellations due to bad weather. We advise you to check the schedules and prices at the Vasiliki port itself and, if you have flexibility, try to go early in the morning to enjoy the beach with fewer people.

On Foot from the Parking

For adventurers and hiking lovers, Playa de Agiofili is also accessible on foot, although we must warn you that the path, while not excessively long, does have its difficulty. To reach the starting point, you must follow a dirt track that leads out from the outskirts of Vasiliki, heading southeast. This track, suitable for normal cars with caution, will take you to an improvised parking area where you can leave your vehicle. It's important to drive slowly, as the road can be uneven and dusty. Once parked, the most challenging part begins: a steep, rocky trail that descends towards the beach. We estimate the hike can take between 15 and 25 minutes, depending on your pace and the stops you make to admire the panoramic views, which are, by the way, impressive and worthy of several photographs. It is absolutely essential to wear proper footwear, such as sneakers or sandals with good grip, and to avoid flip-flops, as the terrain is uneven and slippery in some sections. We also recommend bringing water, especially in the summer months, as the sun can be relentless. The reward at the end of the descent is incomparable: you will be greeted by the majesty of Agiofili, and the satisfaction of having arrived on your own adds extra value to the experience. We really enjoyed the hike, although we recognize it's not for everyone, especially if the heat is intense.

The ground of Playa de Agiofili is not of the usual fine sand; instead, we find an expanse of white pebbles, smooth and polished by the constant ebb and flow of the waves. These pebbles vary in size, from small stones that feel pleasant underfoot to slightly larger ones. At first, walking on them may feel a bit unusual if you're not used to it, but you'll soon get accustomed to their texture. The great advantage of this type of ground is that it doesn't stick to your body or towels, which makes cleaning up at the end of the day much easier. Furthermore, the immaculate white color of the pebbles is a key factor in the extraordinary clarity of the water. By reflecting the sunlight, they create a natural lighting effect that enhances the turquoise and blue tones of the sea, giving it that almost unreal appearance that makes it so famous. We always recommend bringing water shoes or aqua sandals for greater comfort when entering and exiting the sea, and also for exploring the nearby rocky areas.
