How to Get to Playa Bonita

Getting to Playa Bonita is part of the adventure, although it's quite accessible. This gem is located on the north coast of the Samaná peninsula, very close to Las Terrenas, one of the area's most vibrant towns with the best tourist offerings.

From Santo Domingo or Las Américas International Airport (SDQ)

If you arrive in the capital, Santo Domingo, the most common option is to take a bus or rent a car to head to Samaná. The Northeast Highway (also known as the Juan Pablo II Highway) connects Santo Domingo with Samaná in approximately two and a half to three hours. Once on the peninsula, the road leading to Las Terrenas and then to Playa Bonita is scenic and in good condition.

From El Catey International Airport (AZS)

This is the most direct option if your flight arrives on the Samaná peninsula. El Catey airport is about 25-30 minutes by car from Las Terrenas. From there, you can take a taxi, a private transfer, or a 'motoconcho' (motorcycle taxi, a more local and economical option but less comfortable with luggage) to Playa Bonita. Many hotels in the area offer airport pickup services.

From Las Terrenas

• Taxi: The most comfortable and secure way. Prices are reasonable for short distances.
• Motoconcho: It's the most popular option among locals and adventurers. Make sure to agree on the price before getting on.
• Rental Car: If you've rented a vehicle, the road is well-signposted and the journey is straightforward. Parking is available near the beach, often managed by the area's restaurants or small hotels.
