How to Get to Playa Puerto Marqués

Getting to Playa Puerto Marqués is relatively easy, especially if we're already in Acapulco or its surroundings. This beach is located a few kilometers southeast of downtown Acapulco, making it very accessible for visitors. We always recommend considering the different transportation options to make the journey as comfortable as possible.

From Acapulco International Airport (ACA)

If we arrive by plane, the Acapulco International Airport 'General Juan N. Álvarez' (ACA) is our entry point. From there, we can choose:

• Taxi: This is the most direct and comfortable option. There are authorized taxis right outside the terminal that will take us directly to the beach or our accommodation in Puerto Marqués. The journey usually takes between 15 and 25 minutes, depending on traffic.
• Private transportation services: Many companies offer pre-booked transfers, which can be an excellent option if we're traveling in a group or with a lot of luggage.

From Acapulco Downtown

If we're already exploring Acapulco, getting to Puerto Marqués is even easier:

• Taxi: They are abundant and relatively inexpensive. We can take one from any point in the city. We just need to make sure to agree on the price before starting the trip.
• Public transportation (colectivos): For a more local and economical experience, we can take a 'colectivo' (a shared van or minibus) heading to Puerto Marqués. These usually have fixed routes and are identifiable by their destination on the windshield. It's an excellent way to interact with the daily life of the area.
• Rental car: If we prefer to have the freedom to explore, renting a car is a great idea. Playa Puerto Marqués has several parking areas, although they can fill up during high season. The coastal road leading to the beach is well signposted and offers spectacular panoramic views.

The Sand

The sand of Playa Puerto Marqués is predominantly fine and of a soft golden hue, almost honey-colored, that shines under the tropical sun. Walking barefoot, we feel its soft and pleasant texture, a caress for our feet that invites us to relax and forget about the asphalt. It's perfect for building sandcastles with children, for laying out our towel and enjoying a good book, or simply for feeling the warmth of the earth beneath us. Unlike other beaches with coarser sand or the presence of pebbles, here the sensation is one of pure comfort and cleanliness. The width of the beach allows that, even on days of high attendance, we can always find a corner for ourselves, where we can enjoy tranquility and space.

The Water

But if the sand is a delight, the water of Playa Puerto Marqués is, for us, its crown jewel. The bay, with its semicircular shape, acts as a natural shield against the strong currents of the open ocean, resulting in exceptionally calm and gentle waves. This makes it an ideal place for:

• Swimmers of all ages: From the little ones, who can splash safely at the shore, to adults looking to swim without worries about big waves.
• Non-motorized water activities: Perfect for practicing paddleboarding, kayaking, or simply floating and letting oneself be carried by the sea breeze.
• Families with children: The tranquility of the water is a blessing for parents, who can relax knowing their children are safe while playing at the shore.
