How to Get to Playa Seybaplaya

Getting to Playa Seybaplaya is relatively easy, especially if you are in the state capital, San Francisco de Campeche. We always recommend planning the trip to fully enjoy the landscape and comfort, as the journey is part of the experience in this beautiful region of Mexico.

From Campeche City

The most common and practical way to get to Seybaplaya is from Campeche City. The distance is approximately 30 to 40 kilometers to the south, which translates into a trip of about 30-45 minutes by car, depending on traffic and where exactly you depart from in the capital.

• By private or rental car: This is, without a doubt, the most flexible option and the one we prefer to have the freedom to explore the surroundings. From Campeche, simply take Federal Highway 180 (also known as the coastal highway or Campeche-Champotón) heading south. The road is in good condition and Seybaplaya is well signposted, so you won't have trouble finding it. The journey is scenic, with views of the gulf in some sections, where you can appreciate the coastal vegetation and, if you're lucky, perhaps some seabirds. We always advise having a GPS or a map app handy, although the route is quite direct and easy to follow.
• By public transportation: If you prefer not to drive or want a more immersive experience, you can take a bus or a combi (shared minivan) from the Campeche bus terminal. There are frequent services connecting the capital with Seybaplaya throughout the day, making them an economical and accessible option. These options will allow you to interact more with the local population and observe the daily life of the region. Ask for services going to 'Seybaplaya Centro' or 'Puerto Seybaplaya' to ensure you arrive at the heart of the town and near the beach.

The sand of Seybaplaya is fine and of a light color, although not as white as that of the Mexican Caribbean beaches, it has a soft golden tone that reflects the sunlight in a very particular way, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is incredibly soft to the touch, almost like powder, perfect for walking barefoot for hours, for children to build sandcastles easily, or simply to lie down and feel its warmth under the sun. We really enjoyed long walks along the shore, feeling the pleasant texture under our feet and the gentle massage of the receding waves. The predominant type of ground is, as expected, sand, which facilitates access and enjoyment for all visitors, without sharp rocks or uncomfortable pebbles. It is a clean and well-maintained beach, which contributes to the feeling of well-being and relaxation.
