How to Get to Playa de Tamaris

Getting to Playa de Tamaris is relatively easy, especially if we are in Casablanca or its surroundings. The beach is located about 30-40 kilometers south of Casablanca, on the coastal road heading south. Here are some options we consider the most practical:

By Private Car

Undoubtedly, the most comfortable way to get there is by car. If we're coming from Casablanca, we should take the P3003 road (known as the Azemmour road) or the A7 and then turn off towards the coast. The route is well signposted and will allow us to enjoy the coastal views. There are several parking areas available near the beach, although in high season they can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early.

By Taxi

From Casablanca, we can take a 'grand taxi' (shared taxi) that will take us directly to Playa de Tamaris. It's an affordable option and allows us to interact with the locals. Let's make sure to negotiate the price before starting the trip.

Public Transport

Although there is no direct bus line that drops us off right on the sand, we can take local buses from Casablanca or Nouaceur that bring us close to the Tamaris area. Once there, we might need to walk a bit or take a local 'petit taxi' to reach the beach. For us, it's a more adventurous and economical option.

The Sand and Water

Playa de Tamaris welcomes us with fine-grained sand and a golden hue that invites us to walk barefoot. It's an extensive sandy beach, which means that even on the busiest days, we'll always find a spot to spread our towel and enjoy the tranquility. The softness of the sand is perfect for children, who can build castles without difficulty, and for adults looking for a comfortable place to relax.

The Atlantic waters at Tamaris are generally calm, especially compared to other more exposed beaches on the Moroccan coast. This makes it an ideal place for safe swimming, especially for the little ones in the family. Although the Atlantic can be cool, the temperature is pleasant during the summer months. The type of seabed is predominantly sand on the shore and the sea floor, which makes bathing and fun easier without worrying about uncomfortable rocks or pebbles. We should always be mindful of tides and currents, although the presence of lifeguards provides an extra layer of safety.

• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has lifeguard services, which gives us peace of mind, especially if we're traveling with children.
• Umbrellas and Sunbeds: It's possible to rent umbrellas and sunbeds for a reasonable price, allowing us to enjoy the sun without worries and take shelter when the heat is intense.
• Equipment Rental: At some points, we'll find stalls renting simple equipment for water activities, like bodyboards or small boats.

The choice of the right time to visit Playa de Tamaris will largely depend on our personal preferences and the type of experience we're looking for. We usually recommend:

• Summer (June to September): This is the peak season par excellence. The sun shines brightly, temperatures are warm, and the water is ideal for swimming. However, it's also when the beach is most crowded, especially on weekends. If we're looking for a lively and vibrant atmosphere, summer is our time.
