It's not the largest or busiest of Malta's beaches, but its size is precisely part of its appeal. It's an intimate cove with a relaxed atmosphere that invites you to completely disconnect.

This small gem, nestled in the municipality of Mellieħa, offers us a more authentic and less commercial beach experience than other more famous areas. Its turquoise waters, fine golden sand, and panoramic views towards the island of Comino make Playa de Little Armier an idyllic place to spend the day. How to Get to Playa de Little Armier

Getting to Playa de Little Armier is an adventure in itself, though not complicated. We recommend several options to make your visit as comfortable as possible:

By Car

The car is, in our opinion, the most flexible way to access Playa de Little Armier. From the center of Mellieħa, the route is quite simple. Follow the signs towards Armier Bay, and once there, Little Armier is right next door, a little further west. Informal parking areas are available near the beach, although they can fill up quickly in high season. We advise arriving early to secure a good spot.

By Public Transport

Although there is no direct bus stop at Playa de Little Armier itself, bus lines heading to Armier Bay (such as the 101 from Cirkewwa or the 41 and 42 to Mellieħa and then a transfer) will leave you within walking distance. From the Armier Bay stop, it's a pleasant 10-15 minute walk along the coast to Little Armier. It's a good option if you prefer not to rent a car and want to enjoy the scenery along the way.

Other Means

It is also possible to arrive by taxi or via ride-hailing services, which will drop you off directly at the beach. For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle can be a fantastic way to explore the surroundings and reach this beautiful cove, although the terrain can be a bit demanding on some inclines.

Playa de Little Armier delights us with a perfect combination of sand and sea that is hard to match on other Mellieħa beaches.

The Sand

We find predominantly fine sand of a beautiful golden color. It's a delight to walk on barefoot and perfect for children to play and build sandcastles. Although it's a small cove, the stretch of sand is sufficient to find a good spot to lay out our towel and enjoy the Maltese sun.

The Water

The waters of Playa de Little Armier are, without exaggeration, spectacular. Their transparency and intense turquoise color invite you to dive right in. They are generally calm waters, protected by the shape of the bay, making them ideal for safe swimming and for young children. The entrance to the sea is gentle and shallow, perfect for children to splash around without worry. The clarity of the water also makes it an excellent place for snorkeling and observing local marine life near the adjacent rocky areas.

Services and Facilities

Despite its size and more rustic atmosphere, Playa de Little Armier offers a series of services that make our stay very comfortable. We greatly appreciate that, without losing its natural essence, they care about the visitor's well-being:

• Chiringuitos: You will find small chiringuitos or kiosks where you can buy refreshing drinks, ice cream, and some snacks. They are perfect for a light lunch or a mid-afternoon snack.
• Parking: As we already mentioned, there are informal parking areas near the beach, which facilitates access if you come by car.
• Lifeguards: During the peak summer season, lifeguards are usually present to ensure the safety of swimmers, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if traveling with children.
• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: For those who prefer not to carry their own equipment, there are sunbed and umbrella rental services, allowing you to relax comfortably under the Maltese sun. We always recommend protecting yourself from the sun, and this option is very practical.

Best Time to Visit

We, as experienced travelers, always advise choosing the right time for each destination. For Playa de Little Armier, and for Malta's beaches in general, here are our recommendations:

Spring (April-May)

We consider spring a magnificent time. The weather is mild, with pleasant temperatures inviting for a swim without the intense summer heat. The crowds have not yet arrived, allowing you to enjoy the beach with exceptional tranquility. It's ideal for those seeking relaxation and blooming landscapes.

Early Summer (June)

June is another excellent month. The water is already perfectly warm for swimming, the days are long and sunny, and although the influx of people begins to increase, it is still possible to find a good balance between atmosphere and personal space. The beach services are already in full operation.

Late Summer and Early Autumn (September-October)
