How to Get to Playa de Planos

Getting to Playa de Planos is a simple and pleasant part of our adventure in Zante. The island has Zante 'Dionysios Solomos' International Airport (ZTH), which receives direct flights from numerous European cities, especially during the high season. Once at the airport, we have several options to reach our destination.

From Zante Airport

• Taxi: This is the most comfortable and fastest option. There is a taxi rank right outside the terminal. The journey to Planos/Tsilivi usually takes between 15 and 20 minutes, depending on traffic, and offers a direct trip to our accommodation or the beach.
• Car rental: If we prefer to have the freedom to explore the island at our own pace, renting a car is an excellent idea. Several car rental companies operate at the airport. The road to Planos is well signposted and the journey is short.
• Bus: There is a public bus service connecting the airport with the capital, Zante Town. From Zante Town, we can take another local bus that will take us to the Planos/Tsilivi area. Although it is the most economical option, it can be less direct and slower if we are traveling with a lot of luggage.

From Zante Town

If we are already staying in Zante Town or visiting for the day, getting to the Zante beach of Planos is equally simple. We can opt for a taxi, which will take us in about 10-15 minutes, or use the local bus service that operates regularly between the capital and the main tourist centers, including Tsilivi and Planos. The buses are reliable and offer an economical way to get around the island, allowing us to enjoy the scenery as we head to the coast.

The Sand and Water

One of the most attractive features of Playa de Planos is, without a doubt, its combination of sand and water. We are faced with a beach of fine, golden sand, which gently slopes into the sea. This quality makes it an exceptionally comfortable place to walk barefoot, for children to play, and to lay out our towel without worrying about the discomfort of stones or pebbles. The softness of the sand is a delight for the feet and invites us to spend hours in the sun, building castles or simply feeling the warmth under our bodies.

The type of seabed is predominantly sand, both on the shore and on the sea floor, which contributes to the clarity and appeal of its waters. And speaking of water, that of Planos is truly spectacular. It is crystal-clear water, of a turquoise blue hue that instantly evokes the image of a Mediterranean paradise. The transparency is such that we can easily see the seabed, even at some distance from the shore. This, combined with the shallowness of the waters near the coast, makes them incredibly safe and attractive for swimmers of all ages, especially for the little ones.

In addition to its clarity, the waters of Playa de Planos are notably calm. The bay in which it is located offers natural protection against strong currents, resulting in a calm sea, ideal for a relaxing swim, for children to splash around without worry, and for practicing gentle water sports like paddle surfing or kayaking. The water temperature, especially during the summer months, is pleasantly warm, allowing us to enjoy long swims without feeling cold.
