By Car or Motorbike

If you opt for the independence of a vehicle, you can drive to a free parking lot located at the top of the cliff, right above the beach. From there, access to the sand involves a walk of about ten to fifteen minutes. The trail, although well-marked, is a bit rocky and in some sections can be steep and slippery, so we advise wearing comfortable and secure footwear, like sneakers, and not flip-flops. The views during the walk are spectacular in themselves, hinting at the beauty awaiting you at the end of the path.

By Public Bus

For those who prefer public transport, there are regular buses from Fira, the capital of Santorini, to the village of Akrotiri. Once in Akrotiri, you can take a taxi or, if you feel like a longer walk, continue on foot to the Playa Roja parking lot and then descend via the trail. It's an economical option, but requires more time and patience.

By Boat

Perhaps the most comfortable and popular way to reach Playa Roja is by boat. Numerous boat tours depart from the port of Akrotiri (also known as Mesa Pigadia) and from other Santorini beaches like Perissa or Kamari. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, inviting long swims and underwater explorations.
