How to Get to Playa de Tsamadou

Playa de Tsamadou is conveniently located on the north coast of Samos, a few kilometers east of the picturesque village of Kokkari and about 10-12 kilometers from the capital, Vathy (also known as Samos Town). Access is relatively straightforward, though it requires a small effort that is undoubtedly worth it.

By Car or Scooter

The most common and flexible way to get to Tsamadou is by car or scooter. From Kokkari, the journey is very short, just about 5 minutes heading east on the main road. If coming from Vathy, the trip will take about 15-20 minutes, following the same coastal road. You will see clear signage indicating the turn-off to the beach. Once you take this turn-off, the road descends down a wooded hillside to a parking area. It's important to note that, especially in high season, the parking can fill up, so arriving early is recommended. From the parking lot, there is a pedestrian path that winds through the trees and gently descends to the beach. This short walk is part of the experience, offering previews of the sea and the bay.

By Bus

During the summer months, Samos has a public bus service connecting the main towns and villages. You can take a bus from Samos Town or Kokkari heading towards the area. The bus will drop you off on the main road, at the level of the Tsamadou turn-off. From there, you will need to walk along the access road to the parking lot and then descend to the beach, which can mean a walk of about 15-20 minutes. It's a more economical option, but requires a bit more physical effort.

Taxi

For those who prefer comfort, a taxi is always an option. You can find taxis easily in Samos Town, Kokkari, or any other tourist center. The price will be higher, but they will drop you off as close as possible to the beach, minimizing the walk.

The Sand and Water

The most distinctive feature of Playa de Tsamadou is, without a doubt, its composition. Unlike other Samos beaches that may have fine sand, Tsamadou is covered by a mix of pebbles and small stones, giving it a rustic and natural charm. These pebbles, polished by the constant ebb and flow of the waves, are smooth to the touch, although we recommend wearing water shoes for greater comfort when walking and entering the sea. The absence of fine sand also means an advantage: the water remains exceptionally clean and clear, without sand being stirred up with every movement.

Their hue varies from a clear sky blue at the shore to a deep turquoise as you go further in, a reflection of the purity and clarity that characterize them. They are calm waters, generally without big waves, making them perfect for swimming and relaxing. The underwater visibility is excellent, inviting snorkeling, especially around the rocky edges of the bay, where you can discover fascinating marine life. Despite its natural and relaxed atmosphere, Playa de Tsamadou does not lack the essential services that make our visit comfortable and pleasant. It is an organized beach, meaning you can enjoy certain comforts without losing its pristine essence.

• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: A large part of the beach is equipped with straw umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds that you can rent for a modest price. It's the ideal option for spending the day under the Greek sun with all the comforts, enjoying the shade when the heat is intense.

• Chiringuitos and Tavernas: At Tsamadou you will find a couple of cozy chiringuitos or small tavernas, like the famous 'Stella's Place', which offer refreshments, coffee, snacks, and delicious Greek cuisine dishes. They are the perfect place to take a break, enjoy a fresh salad or grilled fish, while contemplating the stunning sea views. The atmosphere is usually very relaxed and friendly.

• Showers and Toilets/WC: For your comfort, the beach has showers where you can rinse off the salt after a dip, and also toilet and WC facilities, which are usually kept clean and in good condition.
