The most common and recommended way to get there is by car, which will give you the freedom to explore the surroundings at your own pace.

By Car

If you're coming from Rethymno city, the journey is approximately 50-60 kilometers and will take you about an hour and a half. The route is scenic, winding through picturesque Cretan villages and mountainous landscapes that will take your breath away. We always recommend renting a car at Heraklion or Chania airport, or directly in Rethymno, for maximum flexibility. The main road will take you south, passing through Spili and Agia Galini, before taking the turnoff towards Agios Pavlos. The signs are fairly clear, although, as always in Crete, a good GPS or an updated map are your best allies.

Once you approach the destination, the road becomes a bit narrower and more winding, descending towards the coast. It's important to drive carefully, enjoying the panoramic views that open up at every turn. There is a parking area available near the beach, often managed by local businesses. It's a dirt parking lot, but there is usually enough space, even in high season, although it can fill up by midday. From the parking lot, a short walk will take you directly to the sand, gradually revealing the majesty of the beach.
