How to Get to Playa de Nagos
Getting to Playa de Nagos is part of the adventure and, at the same time, a fairly simple experience considering the location of the island of Chios. Like many of Greece's hidden gems, the best way to access Nagos is by car. From Chios City (Chora), the island's capital, the journey is approximately 15 to 20 kilometers, which translates to about 25-35 minutes of driving, depending on traffic and our skill navigating the local roads.
Route from Chios City
To get there, we will take the main road heading towards the north of the island, following the signs towards Vrontados and then towards Kardamyla. The roads in Chios are generally well-maintained, although they can be a bit winding in some sections, offering spectacular views of the island's rural and coastal landscape. As we approach the Nagos area, the road narrows a bit and gently descends towards the cove, gradually revealing the beauty of the beach.
Transportation Options
- Rental Car: Without a doubt, the most recommended option. It gives us the freedom to explore not only Nagos but also the charming nearby villages and other Chios beaches at our own pace. There are several car rental agencies at the airport and in Chios City.
- Taxi: Another alternative, though more expensive. We can take a taxi from Chios City, but it is advisable to agree on the price in advance, especially if we plan for them to wait or pick us up at a specific time.
- Public Bus: While there is a public bus network in Chios, the schedules to more remote beaches like Nagos can be limited, especially outside the high season. It is always a good idea to check the updated schedules at the local bus station (KTEL Chios) if this is our preferred option. However, for greater flexibility and comfort, the car is unbeatable.
