How to Get to Playa de Monolithi

Getting to Playa de Monolithi is relatively straightforward, given its proximity to Preveza and major transport routes. The most comfortable and flexible option is undoubtedly by car. If arriving from abroad, the nearest airport is Aktion National Airport (PVK), which is only about 15-20 minutes by car from the beach and about 10 minutes from Preveza city. From there, we can rent a vehicle to explore the area at our own pace.

By Car

From Preveza city, the journey is very short, just about 10-15 kilometers north along the coastal road. Signage is clear and the route is easy to follow. There are ample parking areas along the beach, many of them free, especially in the less developed sections. This allows us to choose the exact spot where we want to set up, whether near a lively chiringuito or in a more secluded area for greater privacy.

By Public Transport

Although less frequent, there are local bus services connecting Preveza with some areas of Playa de Monolithi. However, these services usually have limited schedules and do not cover the entire vast expanse of the beach, which could limit our mobility. For greater freedom, we highly recommend a car or, failing that, a taxi from Preveza, especially if traveling with luggage or in a group.

The Sand and Water

The most distinctive feature of Playa de Monolithi is undoubtedly its sand. It is fine, golden sand, almost pristine, stretching for miles and miles, inviting us to take long barefoot walks along the shore. The texture is soft underfoot, making it perfect for building sandcastles or simply lying down and enjoying the Greek sun.

The Ionian Sea here is a spectacle of colors. The waters are incredibly crystal clear and a turquoise blue that contrasts wonderfully with the golden sand. What we like most is its gradual and shallow entry, making it an exceptionally safe place for families with young children. We can walk several meters into the water and it will still be only waist-deep, allowing the little ones to splash and play in complete safety. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, ideal for cooling off and enjoying a long swim.

Despite its expanse and relaxed atmosphere, Playa de Monolithi does not skimp on services and facilities, especially in the more popular and accessible sections. This ensures a comfortable and pleasant experience for all visitors.

• Active lifeguard services during the high season, with surveillance posts distributed along the beach, providing us with additional peace of mind.

Leisure and Dining Options

• Chiringuitos: There are numerous modern and attractive chiringuitos dotted along the coast. Here we can rent sunbeds and umbrellas for a reasonable price, enjoy refreshing drinks, cocktails, coffees, and snacks. Many of them offer chill-out music and a relaxed atmosphere.
• Restaurants: In addition to the chiringuitos, we will find small restaurants and tavernas right on the beach or very close by, where we can taste delicious local cuisine, especially fresh fish and seafood.
• Equipment Rental: In some sections, it's possible to rent basic equipment for water sports, such as paddleboards or kayaks, although the offer is not as extensive as in other more adventure-oriented beaches.
