How to Get to Playa de Fakistra

Getting to Playa de Fakistra is, in itself, part of the adventure and what keeps it so pristine and exclusive. Don't expect easy, direct access like other Greece beaches. The journey is a prelude to what awaits us: a more intimate and wild experience.

From Nearby Villages

Typically, the starting point to access Fakistra is from the picturesque village of Tsagarada, or alternatively, from nearby Damouchari.

• By car: From Tsagarada, we must take the road heading towards the coast. There is signage, although sometimes a bit discreet, that will indicate the way to the beach. The paved road will take us to a point where we'll find a small, often informal, parking area where we can leave our vehicle. It's important to arrive early, especially in high season, as space is limited. From this point, the adventure on foot begins.

• The footpath: After parking, we'll face a trail that descends steeply down the cliff. This path, although well-marked and with steps in some sections, requires some agility and proper footwear. It's not a walk suitable for strollers or people with reduced mobility. The descent will take us between 10 and 15 minutes, offering spectacular views of the Aegean Sea that already hint at Fakistra's beauty. The return, of course, is uphill and can be more demanding, but the reward is well worth the effort.

• Alternatives: Some experienced adventurers with the right equipment may choose to arrive by kayak or paddle surf from nearby beaches like Mylopotamos or Damouchari, although this option requires more planning and sea experience. We recommend the land route for most visitors.

The entry into the water is gentle for most of the beach, although caution is advised with the small rocks that may be present.

• No chiringuitos or restaurants: You won't find any establishment to buy food or drinks. Our recommendation is to bring everything you need with you: plenty of water, snacks, fruit, and any other food you wish to consume. Plan your visit in advance in this regard.
