How to Get to Playa de Kastraki

Getting to Playa de Kastraki is part of the adventure and offers us a wonderful opportunity to explore the southwestern coast of Naxos. From Chora, the island's capital and main port, the journey is relatively simple and takes us through some of the most well-known Naxos beaches before reaching the tranquility of Kastraki.

By Car or Scooter

Undoubtedly, the most recommended option for us is to rent a car or a scooter. This gives us the freedom to explore at our own pace and discover hidden coves along the way. From Chora, we will take the main road heading south, passing the popular beaches of Agia Anna and Plaka. We will continue south, leaving behind the lively Mikri Vigla, and in a few more minutes, we will find the first signs for Kastraki. The total journey from Chora is approximately 15-20 kilometers, which translates to about 25-35 minutes of driving, depending on traffic and the stops we make to admire the landscape. The road is well-signposted and easy to follow, offering panoramic views of the Aegean Sea that will prepare us for the beauty that awaits. In Kastraki, parking is usually informal, along the road that borders the beach or in small dirt clearings, which contributes to its relaxed and less structured atmosphere.

By Bus

If we prefer not to drive, Naxos has a reliable public bus service connecting Chora with the main beaches of Naxos and villages. There are routes that reach Kastraki, although the frequency of buses is lower compared to routes to Plaka or Agia Anna, especially outside the high season. It is essential to check the updated schedules at the Chora bus station or online, as they may vary. Although it is an economical option, it offers us less flexibility to stay until sunset or explore the more remote areas of the beach. Nevertheless, for a worry-free beach day, it is a perfectly valid alternative.
