How to Get to Playa de Agia Anna

Getting to Playa de Agia Anna is surprisingly simple, making it an even more attractive destination for travelers. Its privileged location, just 6-7 kilometers south of Chora, the capital of Naxos, allows for easy and quick access from any point on the island. We have tried several options and all are viable, depending on your preferences and budget.

From Naxos Town (Chora)

The most comfortable and popular way to get there from Chora is by using the local bus service. There is a regular and very efficient bus line connecting Chora with the main beaches on the west coast, including Agia Anna, Agia Prokopios, and Plaka. The buses are modern, air-conditioned, and run quite frequently during the high season, generally every 20-30 minutes. The journey takes approximately 15-20 minutes and is an excellent way to enjoy the scenery without worrying about parking.

Another option is a taxi, which offers a door-to-door service and is ideal if you're traveling with a lot of luggage or prefer more privacy. The taxi fare is reasonable for the distance, though logically higher than the bus. We usually opt for a taxi if we are heavily loaded or want to go directly to our accommodation without waiting.

Vehicle Rental

For those who prefer the freedom to explore the island at their own pace, renting a car, motorbike, or quad is an excellent alternative. Naxos has good road infrastructure, and the road to Agia Anna is well-signposted and in good condition. You'll find numerous rental agencies in Chora and at the airport. The advantage of having your own vehicle is that you can discover more hidden coves and inland villages that are not accessible by public transport. Furthermore, at Playa de Agia Anna there are several parking areas, some free and some paid, so you won't have problems parking.

On Foot or by Bicycle

For the more adventurous or those staying at neighboring beaches like Agia Prokopios, Agia Anna is easily accessible on foot. There is a pleasant seaside promenade connecting both beaches, offering spectacular views of the Aegean Sea. By bicycle is also a popular option, as the route is mostly flat and the journey is short and pleasant. We have enjoyed sunset walks between these two beaches, and it's an experience we completely recommend.

The type of ground is predominantly sand, which facilitates access to the sea and provides a homogeneous surface for all beach activities. The waters of Playa de Agia Anna are simply spectacular. Their clarity is such that you can see the seabed with total clarity, even several meters deep.
