How to Get to Playa de Katsadia

Getting to Playa de Katsadia is part of the adventure and charm of visiting a special island like Lipsi. The island itself is primarily accessible by ferry. We recommend flying to one of the larger nearby islands with an international airport, such as Leros, Samos, Kos, or even Rhodes, and from there taking a ferry or catamaran to Lipsi. There are also connections from the port of Piraeus in Athens, although this journey is considerably longer and usually takes between 8 and 10 hours, perfect for those who enjoy the sea voyage and are in no hurry.

From Lipsi Chora (Town)

Once you arrive at the main port of Lipsi, known as Lipsi Chora or simply the Town, Playa de Katsadia is located at a very manageable distance. We suggest several options to get there:

• On foot: It's a charming walk of approximately 20-30 minutes from the town center. The route is scenic, winding through rural roads with views of the sea and the island's countryside. It's an excellent way to soak up the local atmosphere before reaching the beach.
• By scooter or bicycle: If we have rented transportation, a scooter or bicycle are fantastic and very popular options on Lipsi. The journey is short, about 5-10 minutes by scooter, and allows for easy exploration of other corners of the island. There are rental companies in the town.
• By taxi: For those who prefer comfort, taxis are always available at the port. The trip is very quick and economical, ideal if you have a lot of luggage or are traveling with small children.

Type of Sand and Ground

We encounter ground that is a mix of small pebbles polished by the sea and coarse sand. This composition has its advantages: the pebbles prevent the sand from sticking excessively to the body and towels, and at the same time, the sand provides a comfortable surface to lie on. It's a type of ground that allows us to feel nature under our feet, a very different sensation from that of purely fine sand beaches. The tone is light, with shades ranging from cream to pale gray, and it blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings of the cove.

They are simply spectacular: crystal-clear, with a transparency that allows you to see the seabed even at several meters depth. The calmness of these waters is another of its great attractions; being in a protected bay, we rarely find strong waves, making it an ideal place for swimming and relaxing without worries. The water temperature is pleasantly warm during the summer months, inviting us to spend hours submerged, exploring with a snorkel mask or simply floating and enjoying the peace.
