How to Get to Playa de Molyvos

Getting to Playa de Molyvos is part of the adventure and, at the same time, a straightforward experience that allows us to appreciate the landscapes of Lesbos. The gateway to the island is Mytilene International Airport 'Odysseas Elytis' (MJT), located in the capital of Lesbos, Mytilene. From there, the journey to Molyvos, located in the northern part of the island, is approximately 60 kilometers and offers spectacular views of the interior and the coast.

• Rental Car: This is, without a doubt, the most recommended option for us. It provides the freedom to explore the island at our own pace and reach Molyvos comfortably. There are several car rental agencies at the airport, and the drive takes about an hour and a half. The road is scenic and well-signposted.
• Taxi: Another comfortable option is to take a taxi directly from the airport. Although more expensive, it is ideal if we are traveling with a lot of luggage or prefer not to drive. Taxis usually have fixed rates for main destinations.
• Local Bus (KTEL Lesvos): There is a bus service connecting Mytilene with Molyvos. However, it may require a transfer at the central bus station in Mytilene and schedules can be less frequent, especially outside the high season. It is the most economical option and allows us to mingle with local life.
